I have a 2002 Cadillac STS and the engine wont crank over when i turn the key to the start position (battery is brand new) It gives me 2 error codes. A Crankshaft Position Sensor B Circuit Malfunction (P0385) and a Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction (P0340) Would these OB-ll codes be the problem on why the car isn't cranking or could there be other reasons?
Would these OB-ll codes be the problem on why the car isn't cranking
No. They could prevent it from running, but not cranking. Have you seen our FAQ?
Could be no spark or no fuel. Sometimes it can be the crankshaft position sensor. It could be your anti theft system is malfunctioning. These cadillacs had problems with the security system and with crankshaft position sensors. Check those things out. Could be a relay or ignition switch problem. Could be many things..
Open the hood and remove the fuse box cover. Place your finger on the Starter Relay and have a helper turn the ignition key to the Start position.
Can you feel the relay click?
If not, check the 10 amp fuse labeled PCM in the same fuse box (it's between the Starter Relay and the closest fuse box hold down bolt). If it isn't blown check the 15 amp fuse labeled Ignition Switch in the fuse box under the back seat.
If it's OK you can do one of two things. You can either test the Starter Relay sockets to see if there's a problem or you can take a chance and try replacing the Starter Relay to see if it's the problem. (keep in mind that even if the Starter Relay clicks it doesn't mean that the relay is good. But it does tell you that the Control Side circuits of the relay aren't the problem).
Here's how your Starting Circuit is wired:

If you want to grab a test light and test the relay sockets and jump the starter through the relay sockets come back and let us know and we'll walk you through it.
Here's where the components in the underhood fuse box are. You have an empty space next to the Starter Relay so I labeled those relay sockets. If you pull out the Starter Relay, the sockets it plugs into are labeled the exact same way and you can compare sockets 30, 85, 86, and 87 of the Starter Relay sockets to what they do in the wiring diagram above.
