Hey scotty, just bought a 2006 Ford mustang v6 with 5 speed manual with around 200k miles for $2,800. Sometimes when I put it into 2nd gear it pops back into neutral any ideas on what the problem is and is it important to fix right away? Transmission came from a junkyard so I have a 90 day warranty.

Sounds like something in the transmission, possibly a synchro is worn. The shift lever moves a fork-like thing that is individual to each "gear" to engage that gear's synchro, which is a splined, ring-like thing that slides back and forth. When they start to wear out, they can pop out of gear and make grinding noises. Given that it's from a 'Stang, Somebody probably beat on that transmission doing burnouts or couldn't shift a standard correctly and they just flat wore it out.
Return it to the junkyard before the warranty expires.
It's not supposed to do that
Worn out transmission.
You need to have the trans rebuilt. It's popping out of gear because it's not going completely into gear in the first place. Usually, the bronze pads brazed to the cast iron shift fork are worn out and have to be replaced. This happens because for some reason, people like to rest their hand on the shift knob while driving, which wears out the shift forks and synchros prematurely.
That's a definite sign of a worn out transmission.
Take it back and swap it for a good unit.
