2008 honda accord oil burning problem.

Hey Scotty,

I have a honda accord 2008 with 4 cylinders and has 130k miles on it. I keep checking my dip stick every few 100 miles and I see the engine is losing oil. I topped up with half quarts every 500 to 1000 miles. Later I found oil in my exhaust. Even my catalytic converter and flex pipe has gone bad a few months ago. I checked the PCV valve it's good. What might be the reason for oil in the exhaust and how to overcome it.

Thanks in advance.

The piston rings are are worn out. You need to rebuild the engine which in your case it does not worth it. Find a good used engine (you may try one of the imported JDM ones) and replace it.

Honda built your engine with defective piston rings and left it up to the consumer to discover the issue.

A Honda technician in Greenville SC informed me that Honda engines burning oil is normal lol.

Unfortunately, it’s a known issue and you are not alone.   Besides continuing to add oil (oil burning will damage your catalytic converter and O2 sensors), you will have to decide if it’s worth getting it repaired or just getting a “new” engine.  No easy solution.
