  1.  Hi Scotty. Have a 2012 Buick Verano purchased new religiously maintained oil and routine maintenance schedule. Hit 90,000 miles they recommend timing chain and water pump chain and related gaskets be replaced and solenoids due to loose sounding chain. Check engine light was on P0013. Had exahaust cam solenoid replaced which took care of check engine. Price to replace chain $1600. GM through customary loyalty cash at $500 since all service records are from dealer. My cost $1100. Also replace camshaft actuators and intake cam solenoid.

From what I understand timing chains should last as long as engine. But due to faulty tensioner guides made of plastic they prematurely wear out causing chains to fail. Only recalls are for certain Chevy Traverse models for replacement.

Do you recommend this service as a failure of chain can cause significant damage due to interference engine?

Its probably your power steering pump since its making a noise. When the pumps fail they usually whine. Any wheel and tire shop can check it for you and if that's not it have your alignment checked I doubt any suspension would make that noise but since I can't hear it you'll have to have them check it out and see. At very least check you PS and change it if its dirty and look for leaks. Lucas makes a leak stop if you need it https://www.amazon.com/Lucas-10008-Power-Steering-Stop/dp/B000ARPVNO

So i have a 91 chevy silverado 5.7 liter v8 auto trans 2wd with 174,000 miles on it and i just replaced the brake pads rotors and one caliper and i replaced both inner and outer wheel bearings on both front wheels. When i'm driving on the highway going highway speeds when i turn my truck a little bit to the right it starts making a whirring like sound but it doesn't do it when i turn left and yes i did grease the bearings. What could be causing the sound?
