Hi Scotty(and everybody),
Just want to tell everybody in NJ to be aware in this dealership.
I recently bought a certified pre-owned 2018 Toyota Camry XSE with 29k miles for an out-the-door price of 27,500.
I know it's my job to see and check every sides of the vehicle before I test drive it or even buy it. But unfortunately, I didn't, cause the car is pretty new and no obvious dents and scratches due to its color(gray). The sales person never even mentioned that the car has dents or body damage on the rear passenger sides(of course). I know for the fact that it has some previous minor damage as carfax said, but I didn't check it in person and hoping they fixed it cause it was certified. While doing the paper works, the sales manager stamp all the important paper with "Sold cosmetically as-is" which I realized that time that was something is fishy. I contacted the sales person who sold the vehicle to me, after I saw the dent and scratches and he said that he talked to the manager and they can't do anything cause it was sold as-is, cosmetically.
Lesson learned: Check all things that you could check even it's certified
bought the car from
GLEN TOYOTA IN FAIRLAWN,NJ
BEWARE!!
I'm curious, did the sticker on the car also indicate it was being sold cosmetically- as is?
No, It doesn't say any even online posting. They just stamp it on all paper works after we agreed on the price.
If you agreed to the terms that the car was sold as-is then this is entirely on you. The dealer did nothing wrong.
THIS
mistake #1 was " I didn't check it in person ". You paid for a $30k items without even looking at it.
Mistake #2 - you admit that you REALIZED it seemed fishy, and you knew you were at the point of no return, and then you went ahead and took the car home anyway.
And now you're telling people beware of this dealer? This dealer isn't doing anything unusual. It's your job to know what you're buying. It sounds like YOU need to learn the meaning of "BUYER BEWARE" before plunking down money.
Not the dealer's fault that you didn't read the contract paperwork carefully.
If you signed the paperwork, you agreed to the terms and accepted the car.
Yeah, unfortunately, CPO means nothing. With certified pre-owned (CPO) you are paying extra and the dealers sometimes don’t do all the multiple-point checks they are supposed to (I noticed on numerous occasions on the CPO cars I was looking at that there were leaks and other issues - no coolant in reservoir tank in one stance! - that they clearly missed.) Even with CPO cars, you still want an independent, honest mechanic to check out before you buy because you can’t trust these dealers.
This is how they getcha, tbh you paid wayyy to much for it. They always stack a mountain of paperwork and "lawyer speak" to get ya like the terms and services of a video game. People rarely give it a second over. In future prospects for ya kids or something better to state your terms upfront. if they don't agree go somewhere else.
