[Solved] Should I buy this Honda Fit

What do you think of a 2010 Honda Fit with just 50K miles on it for $11K, the dealership says the following: We purchased this Honda from Insurance auto auction as runs and drives/minor damage unit ! All damages were repaired by our shop ! Title is branded due to damage report on the history !

They sent me pictures of how they found the car at the auction and it didn't have any exterior damage, he guaranteed to me that it's the original engine, transmission and mileage, however the only thing the car needed was to change suspension, erase some scratches from what I saw from the pictures and polish it. They give free warranty for 3 months or 3K miles and I can upgrade that to a year if needed.

The owner sounded very honest to me on the phone however when I texted him later to send me a history report he told me that it is only available at the dealership so I asked him for the VIN number but I haven't gotten any response yet.

What do you think ? The price is affordable to me, I haven't been able to find anything cheaper for a month, however I am only buying from a dealership because I need warranty and financing.

Hy!

I have no experience with those cars but common sense tells me to choose something that is proven to be reliable. So my vote goes for 2nd option. Anyway have it checked by a mechanic if you like the car.

Good luck!

I wouldn't.  The insurance company chose to pay the owner rather than repair it. 11k is a lot of money to gamble with. I know car prices are crazy but keep looking.

I agree with @oldandy That story doesn't add up, and them giving you a run-around on the VIN/Carfax makes me double-suspicious. Those verbal guarantees aren't worth the paper they're not written on.

I'm going to add that dealership warranties usually aren't worth anything given all the fine print stuff they put in them so they can avoid most issues/repairs. You have to be very careful with such warranties and make sure you read every single fine print in there.

Other point is whether buying from dealership or private party never take the sellers word only; always have your trusted independent mechanic check the car for you.

And finally as everyone else said the story doesn't add up and the damage was severe enough that the insurance company didn't see it worth repairing. So yeah look for something else.

Well I wouldn’t spent $11k on a 12 year old Fit/Jazz.

People are buying much newer bigger and better cars for similar money.

it’s also not much cheaper than what it was new.

But if you really want it, go to a mechanic and ask him what it would cost to repair it to like-new state.

You are right, the story doesn't add up. Thank you all for your advices, this is the first time I purchase a car. My first car was a gift from my uncle and it lasted me 3 great years until the problems that came up didn't worth fixing. I'll be patient and continue looking for a more honest "Fit"

Isn't it interesting how CARFAX decided to call the damage Minor, it doesn't make sense.

When an officer writes an accident report, there is usually a section for checking a box that describes the amount of damage to the vehicle. If the visible damage is minor, the officer will put a checkmark in that box. Later inspection by a body shop often reveals suspension or frame damage that was not readily apparent.

Makes sense, thank you, I'll wait one more month and keep researching

Hello, I've found some good deals in my area for 2015 HONDA FITS, very low mileage (40-60K), 1 Owner and Clean History but I heard this year has the most complaints and mostly because of the cvt, should I take my chances with a 2015 or go cheaper with the 2ng gen (2009-2014) for 80K+ miles and 5 Speed Automatic?

*Are the seats of the 2015 as uncomfortable as they say ?

Typically when should I expect their CVTs to need repairs or replacement ?
