1998 Toyota Camry - 2.2L 4 cyl, A/T, 113K original miles -(2nd transmission) - no scans/codes.
So I goofed: The head gasket on my car is leaking (reservoir fluid disappears weekly)...no overheating (yet). 5S-FE engine is known for blown head gaskets.
I used Bar's Cooling System Radiator and Heater Core Stop Leak (It was all they had and I was worried that the system would completely fail) I was low on $$. I've got time to work on the car now.
I'm planning on pulling the head and sending it out (assuming its warped) for full service and replacing the H Gasket and H bolts.
I need advice: I want to fully clean out the cooling system of this Stop-Leak stuff before pulling the head off. How to go about it and what chemicals/brands to use. I realize that the T-stat will be replaced and possibly the rad. I WILL be replacing the heater core as well.
Please advise as to chemicals/brands/procedures/experiences/cautions. Thanks!

It was designed to not come out. That's why it's a last resort.
Follow the directions on the can. Advice - replace the head gasket only with Toyota OEM and use ARP studs instead of bolts. Head bolts only get torqued to 55lbs whereas ARP studs get torqued to 85lbs.
@alex1969, why the down vote? Replacing the heater core and thermostat is a really good idea. Radiator cap too. Hope it didn't clog the radiator itself. A regular Prestone cooling system flush kit should do the job.
Sorry-I'm a lousy (noob) to this message board stuff - late night error - Thanks for your help. This repair is really going to be a PITA!
