Dealer refusing to return my money

Earlier this week I went to a Toyota dealer in Houston (Keating Toyota) I went in to buy my first car. after speaking to a sales manager he said he could get a deal for me, next I spoke with a finance manager who told me the vehicle that I wanted wasn’t there and that it had to be delivered to the store. That night he said he would take part of the down payment and when the vehicle arrived I could put down the rest, I put $3000.00 down that night. He also told me that until that vehicle was actually there and I sign delivery for it, the deal was not closed, so it gave me peace knowing that it wasn’t set in stone. The next day I realized that the deal they gave me was ridiculous they were charging me almost double what the vehicle is worth.

I went back the very next day to ask for my money back but was told by the General Sales manager, who was being pretty rude, that I would have to come back the next day to speak with the finance manager. So I went back the next day again and the finance manager was nowhere to be found. Again I was directed to the General sales manager who began telling me that “I don’t know anything about buying cars,” and that “there’s no way you’re getting your money back.” I called Toyota corporate and they said because it’s privately owned there’s nothing they can do. I asked for the contact information of the owner and the general sales manager refused, I asked for copies of my paperwork (I never even got the VIN number of the car) and he refused, then I asked for my money back once more and again he said no, after that he made a racist remark saying “maybe you don’t understand me because of the language barrier, do you need me to translate it for you?” (I’m Mexican)

And quite obviously I speak english, I called my bank to tell them about the charge and they’re investigating it but I don’t know how long that may take and it may not come back in my favor. I also tried to file a police report but was told it was a civil matter. I also tried to contact a Lawyer for veterans that could give advice but had no luck.
I don’t know what else to do, if anyone has some advice for me I would really appreciate it! Thanks everyone,

sorry for the long read!

I was a licensed dealer owner, just call state attorney general office, they bureau of consumer, they state dealer licenses dept. That will light a fire under dealership.

Typical Keating Toyota. Sorry to hear another of my fellow Texans got mistreated by them.

Good news is if you paid by check, just put a stop payment on it thru your bank. Case closed.

If the story is as cut and dry as you say and you never signed anything, you can get a pro-bono lawyer to represent you and get your money back worst case scenario.

I'm really sorry about your experience, and I'm also sorry about the comments made by the GM. Happens more than we like to think down here.

I'll be rooting for you amigo. Please let us know how things progress.

Thanks for the advice guys! I called the consumer credit commissioner and they were able to help with getting my money back, it’s just sad Bc I really didn’t want to do that. It didn’t have to go that way
