Hi Scotty and all,

I've seen you and numerous other people like this product and trust your word most.

I am looking to purchase a used car in the $3,500 - $4,000 range within the next month. I have goon info from knowing cars in general and watching/listening to you and your honesty. Is the BlueDriver still the best bang in for my buck in 2021 for what im looking to accomplish as an OBD reader in getting a used car?

Thank you for all you and yours do,

Rob

I would urge you to go to the Blue Driver site and see what functions are available for vehicles you'd like to see. I do know that the Android software was update yesterday. I don't know if the upgrade was cosmetic or functional, yet.

If you're looking at Innova, etc., the same caveats apply. Some newer scanners, such as Carista, allow for some bidirectional tweaking of cosmetic features. But Carista doesn't have a live data functions nor does it cover older vehicles. Its largely a feature tweaker for upper end newer vehicles.

What are you looking to accomplish with the OBDII reader?  It all depends.  I can tell you right now you won’t find a scan tool that does it all and is also less than $500.  There will be compromises especially at the lower price points.

If you are looking for a basic scanner, Blue Driver works well. But if you need live data or more advanced features, you'll need to look elsewhere.

I would look at what Blue Driver does vs. what you need to do vs. what an Autel scan tool can do. And then decide which works best.

Bluedriver has live data and graphs

Well, you learn something every day. I thought it only offered that for specific models. Good to know.

many parameters are standard across all auto makes. OBD is legislated standard for emissions testing purposes. For example, all cars have a temperature sensor, RPM readout, etc.

For my 2008 Camry, Blue Driver has a robust Live Data capability PLUS it has Mode6/Enhanced Diagnostics. I can't comment on other vehicles in the database, but please, go to their site and check on what you need, for specific vehicles.
