How can I prevent my Nissan to not start up at high RPMs

Hi Scotty, my 2005 Nissan Maxima with 122k miles has a problem that I'm concerned about right now. The thing I'm concerned about is that when I start it after it's not used for at least a few hours or so and even all night as well, the car would start up at 2500 RPMs and I'd let it sit and warm up for about a minute before driving it. What could mostly go wrong since it starts up that high and what can be improved as much as possible to not start at high RPMs?

Might want to do this. Mine wasn't idling as high as yours, but it helped drop the cold idle to less than 2k rpm's.

It is a good thing to do every now and then anyway.

vacuum leaks are a major cause of high idle.

You would need to run diagnostics to troubleshoot further.

Agree with MMJ also known problems can be a heated short band 02 sensor bank not working right either. Just my opinion seen it happen a few times in my still learning days , if you are not learning something new a day your not getting your hands or mind dirty, lol.

O2 sensors are ignored when the engine is first started, until it warms up.

yes true, but if a short or lose or clogged just enough not to throw a code it will idle high for over a minute, but im still agreeing with you MMJ.

No. Nothing you just said makes any sense at all.
