I'd like to buy the best Lexus SUV for the cheapest money to last the longest

In the spirit of Scotty's recommendation of some Highlanders going 550k miles, I'm trying to identify how best to spend my money selling my 2014 Toyota Tundra SR5 with 135k miles.

I don't need it anymore, but I do need an SUV. I want something that is LOW MAINTENANCE, fun to drive, safe, all wheel/4wd, and if I'm wishing on a star, good mileage to boot.

I'll probably have about 23K to spend after I sell the truck.

I was thinking of going with a 2003 Lexus rx300 as I found one with 112k miles for 12k. Seems Decent. I was also toying with the Honda Element as they are super cheap and from what I've seen great cars. Can't do a car because I need clearance for driving some off road (but not rock crawling).

Thoughts?

Thanks!!!

Also open to AWD Volvos. Like what Scotty has to say about the 2007 XC70 AWD

The Lexus NX is basically a RAV4, built in the Camry platform. Capable SUV, with good gas mileage.

The GX and LX would be choices if you need more off road. But horrible gas mileage. This is based on the Toyota truck body on frame platform.

The RX is nice too. Bigger than than the NX. But the innards are the same Camry platform.

XC70 is not SUV. And good SUVs are not cheap. But Toyotas are cheaper to maintain than Lexuses.

Given Lexus being a luxury brand it means both the car is going to be more expensive and also the repair/parts cost. So I would suggest if you want to get the most out of your money consider looking at Toyota or Honda SUVs since they're not as expensive to buy, not as expensive to maintain/repair, and they're great quality cars. Also, if you can spend around $3k ish more you can get a brand new RAV4 or CR-V. There is also the Corolla Cross which starts at about $22k.

You say you need a SUV, may I ask why?

Your answer may narrow down the recommendations.
