Hello Scotty, I have a 2010 Scion tC, A/T with 142,000 miles. I purchased it at a used car dealership in decently poor condition. My current concern is this loud "Knock" (driver's side) I hear when shifting to Reverse (on a cold engine). It mostly happens on a cold engine, and usually at RPMs >900. When the car is warm, or when the RPM is ~750 I don't usually hear it. Volume of the knock is generally loudest on a cold engine. I did a little check under the car to see the CV Axels and Boots and noticed some grease buildup on the passenger side inner boot and none on the driver's side inner (or outer) boot. The front boots weren't leaking that I could tell.
The image above is of the inner boot passenger side. The image below is the same angle but including a small spot of oil (leak?) in the top right. Could these be related?
The third picture is the driver's side (where I hear the noise) inner boot. This one has some sort of extra mini-boot along connected to the boot.
Thank you for your time and help! I watch all of your videos. And thank you for your service, Scotty.

Hi Jared is at CV joint they can wear internally. You see that grease coming out. All you have to do is jack it up in the air put on jack stands and then if you can replicate the sound have somebody put it in reverse and neutral reverse and neutral and you can put your hands there. You can feel if that's what's clunking
