P1399, P1400, P1403 codes in my Toyota

Hey Scotty,

I recently bought a 2013 Toyota 'Rush' SUV (you probably not know since it hasn't launched in North America) with 1.5L 3SZ-VE engine. One time the Check engine light came on and I went for a scanning. While going to the mechanic there weren't any out of the ordinary experience. After scanning P1399, P1400, P1403 codes came up. He said there might be a loose connection of engine wiring and re-plugged them. If the engine light comes again there might be a problem with spark plugs or ignition coils he said.

Another day the same happened. I went for another mechanic and he said something similar but I couldn't repair it  there because I was in a a hurry and nothing unusual in the vehicle performance (no reduced power, misfiring noise nothing)

So Scotty, how should I face this issue? Would like to know some basics before the light comes up and visiting a mechanic again. I see that the previous owner has taken care of the car well and it's done only 40,000 miles.

Well that has to do with a problem in a throttle system of the vehicle. It could be a bad wiring connector. It could be a bad throttle position sensor. It could be a bad accelerator pedal sensor. Lots of things you'd have to know how to test them, but you can take all the connectors apart to make sure they're not corroded where there's green corrosion and you have to clean it off after you take it apart
