Hello,
I am ready to purchase a 2025 Mustang GT Premium 6-Speed and I am curious if you, or the group recommend I purchase a Premiumcare (1,000+ parts covered) Extended Warranty? At the moment I am being quoted $4,375.00 for a 10 year, 100K mile warranty.
This is my first time purchasing a high performance sports car and I would greatly appreciate any detailed feedback/suggestions.
Thank you greatly for your time.
Is it a manufacturer's extended warranty or aftermarket warranty? Most aftermarket extended warranties are ripoffs. Even with the manufacturer extended warranty you'll want to carefully go over the contract to see exactly what is covered and what is excluded. (Do you really think you'll need over $4375.00 in repairs between the time the standard warranty and extended warranties expire?)
My wife bought Ford's extended warranty when she bought her 2017 EcoBoost Mustang brand new. Her speakers started acting up right after she passed 60k miles. It was covered.
At 93k miles, the purge valve started acting up. She replaced that, and I told the Ford tech to replace the transmission fluid, too. He said it's not due until 150k miles. I then asked, does the warranty cover it to 150k miles? He said no, which I already knew. I told him to change the transmission fluid.
Her and my Mustangs are 2017s, and evidently Ford had issues with purge valves that year. I keep replacing them about once a year (using Motorcraft parts, too).

I have the PremiumCare warranty for my 2022 Edge. I would say it is well worth it. However, as a Ford owner myself, I concur with @chucktobias that you're better off buying it from Ford directly as you'll get a better price than at the dealership.
Chuck, it would be for a manufacturer extended warranty. Dealership did not pressure me on it, I just asked for a quote on extended coverage to weigh my options. I am new to this forum and it has been two decades since I have bought a new vehicle so I am just seeing what others may have to say on the matter. Thank you greatly for sharing your thoughts, feedback, and the video.
@seethestars88 I'd try negotiating the price down. The cost they're charging is mainly profit for the dealer. (With Ford's current quality problems a manufacturer's extended warranty may not be a bad idea but they're asking way too much money.)
Will do, thank you Chuck.
