Scan Tool for Adaptation/transmission reset

I have a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 (Transmission Issues).  I have been trying to find a scan tool to reset the Adaptation/Tranny computer for when I replace the transmission. I haven't been able to find a Scan tool online that says it can do that specifically.  Any advice on Brand or Device I would be able to use?  Preferably $1,000.00 or less.  Thanks for any help.

Preferably $1,000.00 or less

are you really sure you want to spend that kind of money for something you only need to do once?

I bet if you stopped by a transmission shop (or any well equipped mechanic really) and asked, they're not going to charge much more than $100 to do it for you.

Also realise that the computer will adjust the shift parameters to the new transmission automatically. That's literally what "adaptation" means. Just don't go to the race track or do 5,000 rpm neutral drops the first few drives . (not that you should anyway).

I haven't been able to find a Scan tool online that says it can do that specifically.

The tool needs:

  • to communicate with transmission control (if it says "all system" then transmission is included)
  • bidirectional capability (also called "special functions" or "service functions")

Most tools in the $600+ range should be able to do it.

Even the Foxwell NT530 for $160 lists "transmission adapt" in the features.

But it's always best to speak with a company's sales support over the phone if you want be sure.
