Change 2013 Elantra trans fluid at 130K miles?

Scotty,

Absolutely love your channel!  There's less room in MY brain because of YOUR awesome knowledge! lol!  🙃

My daughter has an unusually reliable 2013 Elantra which I maintain.  However, I've never changed the transmission fluid.  She has 130,000 miles on the vehicle.  No problems with the tranny.  Would you recommend a fluid and filter change at this stage or not.  If not, will transmission fluid eventually "wear out?"

Thanks so much!

Most people will tell you to change it, which is not a bad idea, but i'd leave it alone. Reason being, you are running the risk of really messing it up by changing it at this point. Plus, the transmission doesn't just stop working about 150K, or whatever, because you failed to change the fluid now. And reality, you probably won't have that car longer than another few years. And another point, you've made this car last long enough! count your blessing and ride it out until it dies! I wouldn't keep putting time, money, and effort into an Elantra this old.

I would. I would also save the old fluid incase you need to put it back in.

Thanks Jpparisio. Smart thinking!
