2003 e320 sport fully loaded with air ride..129880 miles... Last night I was driving home and car started and check engine came on. I pulled over and grabbed my scanner. There was no codes, neither global nor  OEM. I continue home and the light came on but shut off on its own. That happened 7 times. Along with that my radio and guage cluster kept shutting off. Finally I get home and hook up my laptop/scan tool with star. Car had multiple codes for lean and rich condition and secondary air pump malfunction. I check live data and checked my trims bank 1 stft 0.1 ltft 0.0 bank 2 stft 0.0 ltft 0.0. So I figured it had to be error or phantom codes. I couldn't find anything at all wrong with car. Finally I came across something suspicious. I pressed on my drive belt and noticed very tiny surfy cracks. My belt is dry rotting.  I ordered one 3 months when I did my break and rotors. I replaced the belt and everything is good.

This is my I hate German cars, something so stupid can cause so many problems and headaches. People this is why me and others on here tell you to stay away.  It took 4 hours to find what's wrong and fix. Imagine if I couldn't do the work my self it would of cost hundreds to fix a $17.81 part. That If the shop was even able to find what's wrong and fix it properly. Thought I should let people know so they understand why we dislike German cars so much.

Ha!
So True
Glad my only German car has a Japanese engine

Lucky

Only silver lining. Mine is made in Germany. It would be so much worse if it was made here.
