Toyota Camry Headlight Conversion

Hi guys,

I have a 2014 Toyota Camry. It is equipped with standard halogen lights and I wish to change them to
HID or LED.

Is it possible to do so by just replacing the bulb in the existing connector or do i need a conversion
kit with a ballast.

Also, Can I have a recommendation on good quality bulbs
Thanks

Stick to the LEDs since the HID gets too hot and if your car was not designed for it, you may end up having some melting issues. Most recent LEDs come with a full kit and you just plug them.

Hi folks,

I just found out that HID/LED conversion is against the law in New Zealand and we need to install completely
new units to comply.

I have been looking at aftermarket headlight and taillamp units by VLAND and VIPMOTOZ. I was wondering if anyone has used these products and could provide some valuable feedback about the same.

Thanks

If you’re talking about Chinese assemblies, they are usually cheaply made & don’t expect them to last. If it’s Taiwanese, they’re much better, though still far from OEM quality. Does the higher trims of your Camry come equipped with LED/projector headlamps?

I believe the 2014 Camry hybrids came with HID headlamps. Should I buy OEM hybrid Camry's headlamp and try fitting on mine?

Does it have any DRL which stay on with the engine running? If yes, I wouldn’t bother as you may need to fiddle with the onboard electronics.
If they don’t have DRLs however, yeah, they should be a direct fit for your vehicle. You may still be able use stock halogen bulbs in the projectors. You’ll have to instal a relay + ballast kit if you want to upgrade to 4300K HIDs. Ask your Toyota dealer/mechanic about this swap, before putting any money down.

Nope. DRL has to be turned ON manually. I agree with your idea about asking my mechanic before making any purchase.
Would be nice if I can have HIDs.

Consider LEDs too.
