Thanks for reading this Scotty,

I’m selling my 2018 Nissan Sentra(43k miles) and buying a Toyota Highlander(118k) instead

I was wondering what you think of the Toyota 2006 highlander limited all wheel drive. I’m trying to buy a Toyota and I found this one for 6500 it has 118k on it. In my opinion I found this price too low for the car that’s why I’m kinda worried to buy it. What do you think I should do?

Get the car inspected prior to purchase. Hey maybe you will get lucky. $100 bucks for a shop to do an hour of diag and they will tell ya what's up.

Get it inspected. Make sure that all the warning light come on when you first turn on the car. If the dont, that could mean the owner unplugged them prior to your visit. Check to see if it has been it a wreck by measuring the amount of space between the tire and the body. If its 6 inches in the front and like 7 inches in the back, the body is bent and the car might have been in a wreck. Look under the hood for paint overspray. If there is that means the car has been repainted for some reason. Look under the steering column and see if its rusty. if it is rusty water has been there and the car might have been flooded. Check under the floormats too. if its all moldy and it smells like mold then that part may have been under water too, and be real leery to about any heavy perfuming. The owner might be trying to hide the mildew smell. If the owner has an OBD2 sensor (scan tool) and he shows you the codes and nothing is wrong there, he might have erased the code prior to that. So drive the car around for about an hour or so and hook up the tool. If it trips any code do some reseach to find out what it means. And like BruceRee said, always have it inpected prior to purchase. Hope that helps

Sincerely, M.B. Speed

Like the rest have said, get a mechanic to look at it before you purchase. The highlanders can be found for decent prices because they aren’t as in demand as other vehicles in the Toyota lineup. A lot of people will go for the rav4 or the 4Runner and the Highlander is kind of a niche inbetween size that a lot of people forget about I think. Similar to a Avalon, people kind of forget about that model because everyone seems to want the Camry or Corolla and imo can be found for great deals and is a little nicer of a car than the other 2. I think that may be part of why the price is so low if nothing is found wrong with it
