Hi All. 2001 Toyota Tundra V8 SR5 2WD with 302k miles. All electrical appears fine. Engine turns over just as usual, but does not fire. Truck ran fine an hour before. When got back in to return home, no-go. There is no buzz sound from gas tank. Using a cheap $40 OBDscanner, no codes came up. I checked the corresponding engine compartment and cabin fuses and all were ok. I did NOT test relays. There is no typical buzz noise coming from fuel tank. Per Scotty video, The engine did successfully start when Starting fluid was sprayed into air intake (x2). I change my fuel filter every ~70k mile. Thinking my fuel pump is shot. Anything else come to mind to check as part of diagnostics before jumping into fuel pump replacement? Is there another engine fuse?
Odds are you fuel pump is shot but you could go to the wiring and send power directly to the fuel pump and ground and if it still doesn't work and just buzzes the pump is out the only thing back there that can buzz is the pump inside the gas tank and it's either not getting enough power or more often it's just worn out
Thanks for quick response! And will check power source .
Yes, it was fuel pump. Replaced it. Truck runs like expected. Despite age (20 years, 300k+ miles) there was no indication of weak performance. Just died One start. THANKS SCOTTY NATION!
Also, the moderators have compiled all of Scotty's videos about this subject and there is valuable info from him in this thread, hope it helps.
