[Solved] U1000 Code 2011 Nissan Frontier SV 4x4 V6

Hey Scotty, I have a 2011 Nissan Frontier 4x4 V6 5spd w/od auto 147K miles. On an all module scan. It shows all codes related with U1000. I know this means failure of CAN Communication Circuit. Than yes, my truck was recently in New Jersey for most of its life. Though i can’t see any particular wire that is corroded. Should I take it to a independent mechanic to check it out? Or can I just leave it alone. I’ve seen many forums where they say you can leave it alone, but just would like to know expert advice from some moderators on the website or Scotty the legend himself. In future references. Thank You!

Clarification: Any symptoms or drivability issues?  Any other codes also present?

But it’s just a stupid Steering Angle Sensor code.

Per the link below:   https://www.obd-codes.com/u1000

I have experienced several Nissan vehicles with code U1000 that stood alone. No problems were found in any of the systems, yet the code persisted. Exhibiting no driveability or operational problems, the code was simply ignored.

I would begin by checking all grounding connections for looseness and corrosion.

Doc I did just disconnect the battery terminals and remove the battery to install new headlights. Could that have caused that particular code?

that is a communication failure. An electronic module either doesn't have power, doesn't have a signal with the other modules, or it has failed. Steering angle is vital to the stability/traction systems.

Since you've been messing with the battery, try clearing the code and see if it comes back.

The C1163 code usually has to be reset after an alignment. It is possible that disconnecting the battery could have tripped the U1000.  Clear all the codes with a scanner and check it.  Do some online research to see if you can find any TSBs regarding this code for Nissans. (U1000)

If you have no driveability issues then leave it alone. Whatever scan tool your using could have triggered the code

No driveability issues, just a dull shake at idle when stopped. Though rides really smooth when driving. Though through some gears when shifting I do feel a slight bit of a rough shift but nothing too bad.

Some years not sure if applies to yours but there was bulletins for either an ecm reprogram or a section of the exhaust for a vibration at idle. But the can code I would ignore it wouldn’t be relevant

Yep my torque converter isn’t worn out, it’s a TSB that wasn’t done on my vehicle. I’m taking it to get done at the dealership, though I’m replacing my center exhaust tube cause the dealership charges too much for that simple of a job. Though the only reason I’m taking it to a dealership is because they have to reprogram my ECM and I don’t know any mechanics who have access to that, without paying for it. So im taking it to the dealership and they are going to reprogram it for 127$
