Hi Scotty, I am a big fan of your show. I love the Honda Insight 2019 model. I was thinking getting a used one from a dealership for $16000 with 60k miles on it. (EX trim). Is this a good price for clean title?do you recommend the vehicle? P.S. I am not a big fan of prius. I love this new insight as it looks like a regular sedan with 150 combine HP.

I would not choose that. To be honest, Insight is an embarrassment for Honda regarding the reliability. Besides that, you want to buy a 2 years old car with 60k miles. Do the math, that car was driven a lot for its age. You got more reasons to pass than even think about that car.

Scotty usually isn't a fan of used hybrids. This is where I differ with him, because if you know what you are looking for and what to expect, deals can be found.

Assuming the 2019 Honda Insight uses the same hybrid system as the latest generation CR-V, I find it a compelling hybrid, even more compelling than a Prius or Toyota's system.  This is not the old IMA hybrid (integrated motor assist) that Honda used to sell.

In the latest generation CR-V, it is more of an electric vehicle and less of of a hybrid, IMHO.  The electric motor drives the car up to about highway speeds.  And only the electric motor.  The gas engine generates the electricity for the electric motor.  The gas engine only powers the car at faster speeds, since it is more efficient for it to do so.

In traditional hybrids like Toyota's system, both the gas engine and the electric motor can share driving duties at the same time, and the gas engine can drive the car at almost any speed.

Personally, I'd take the risk on a third generation Insight (assuming it is the same system on the CR-V).  They are cheaper than a Prius, and provides a compelling alternative.  With that said, the jury is still out on this longevity of this car.
