Greetings, I hope all are well. My father is looking for a good large suv for town use and long trips.
His budget is a bit tight and he is strictly looking for 7 seaters.
There is a cadillac escalade 2006 done about 100k miles in very good condition and there is a Sequoia 2008 done about 136k miles in also very good shape. I know the escalade is not as reliable as the Sequoia but the Sequoia is much more expensive and for a reason and it is a bit above the budget. My question is can my father get by the escalade and use it as a daily driver? We live in the gulf region and the options we found based on his budget are:
- Ford Explorer/ Mercury Mountaineer 2009-2010
- GMC/Chevrolet Tahoe/Yukon 2001-2006
- Mazda Cx9 2008-2011
- Ford Expedition/ Lincoln Navigator 2008-2010

I think that was one of the last years of the last reliable generation that they made for Cadillac. I believe the platform was based on the same as what the yukon/suburban used, and I know those were very solid, as I have had friends that out 350k+ on them, one friend did 430K+

However, I think the cadillac would be more prone to issues as they likely used more bells and whistles that can go bad at that age.

The Sequoia is a more basic vehicle, and has less to go wrong, and has Toyota reliability.

I would go for the Suburban/Yukon over the cadillac, but my first choice would be the Sequoia.

How much price difference is there?

The price difference is about 3000 $

Hi Osama,

I also live in the middle East. I would also suggest the Pajero. It has solid reliability and costs lesser to maintain with seating for 7. Further, it is also good to look at Trailblazer/ Envoy 2005-09 XLT (7 seater version) as that has a real solid build as well. Given that its I6, it is more easier and cheaper to maintain than the big V8 bros (Tahoe or Suburban).

Sequoia is a brilliant option but its rare to find a good used one. Either it is expensive or with KMS over 300k. Given the V8, we dont know how the previous owner has pushed it.

Thanks pranavesh
