| Did you/they replace the MAF sensor with a brand new OEM replacement? Also, check for vacuum leaks, change the fuel filter (if equipped) & pressure test the fuel pump. | |||||

| My nephew said the idle smoothed out or stopped fluctuating when he replaced those parts. However it did not fix the problem all together. The car still has no power or dies when the throttle is pressed. | |||||

| So the mechanic you used replaced 3 more items, and the car didn't run any better. I wouldn't have a lot of confidence that he did those repairs correctly, so it probably would be a good idea for another mechanic - or you - do recheck all these parts, as well as hook up a higher end scanner that shows if the fuel/air is good, the ECU knows where the throttle is, etc. Did this mechanic refund some money? Sad to say, some just throw parts at malfunctions until the customer goes away or runs out of money. | |||||

| I assume you got its effective thermostat if not your temperature sending unit is bad and it's not giving the correct temperature which is probably what it is so replace the temperature sending unit on the engine first that'll probably fix it | |||||

| This is such a weird problem. I wish I could point you somewhere. My only guess is that something is getting pinched or unpinched by going up in the air. | |||||

| Hi Kaizen, how's it going? Dude actually the first time it happened, the next day I took it to a brutal incline/slope, turned it off, and then tried to turn it on, and it worked just fine, I haven't really had any issues on startup except for the one mentioned. I really have given some thought to it, but I can't figure why is it that only if placed on jack stands, front wheels on the air, and back wheels on the ground, the whole starting system leaves the chat, and on the same exact position on an incline it works fine. | |||||

| I'm curious, does it crank on an incline? Suppose the car is on an incline at the same angle as on the jacks. Does it still crank? | |||||

| Hey Scotty/Guys, So my 2000 tibby work all right, the thing is, if I'm working on it and put the front wheels on jacks, it dies and will not crank not even by straight jumping the starter relay but everything else work fine. As soon as 4 wheels are on the ground it starts working as if nothing happened. any ideas why this might be? Battery and alternator working fine, and haven't had issues with the starter other than this. | |||||

| No. You did just a lube change. Drivability change is coincidental, … for some undogly reason. Perhaps you’ve done something inadvertently? Retrace your steps, … think, just perhaps, your elbow bumped some sensor, dislodge wiring, et.al.? F.S. | |||||

| Those can be decent cars - I would get one with a manual transmission. If you can get it for around $2000 and it checks out mechanically, it should be a relatively fun and reliable car. I wouldn't pay any more than that though. | |||||
