| Buying a truck out of college | 10Relevance | 4 years ago | Shuman.C | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hello everyone, I am getting ready to graduate from college in a couple of months and the vehicle I have now is a 2008 dodge Dakota V6 with 90,000 miles on it. It does have low miles but it has been nothing but problems for me and I would like to buy a different truck before graduating and moving to my new job which is a 16 hour drive from where I am now. I am looking for something that is relatively cheap under 25 thousand dollars and I was recently approached by my best friend who told me his grandpa is looking at selling his 2005 Chevy 1500 HD 6.0L that ... | |||||
| extended crank | 10Relevance | 4 years ago | Modomiv | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| 2000 Dodge Dakota v6, 66k miles, having trouble cranking from cold. takes about 6 seconds to start, if I press the gas peddle when trying to start it it kills. when coming out of reverse into drive before pressing the peddle it’ll sputter and fine or sometimes it’ll kill, if I give it gas during that sputter it kills immediately. After starting it successfully it runs fine, when turned off and immediately restarted it cranks up fine too. I’ve gotten the spark plugs replaced and my battery is good but don’t know what else I could do to fix it . | |||||

| ... able to find a few Ford Rangers that have them (not against Rangers, just don't want to limit my search). Early to mid 2000s is what fits within my budget. Are there any years or trims for other light duty trucks (i.e. Toyota Tacoma, Nissan Frontier, Dodge Dakota, Chevy Colorado) that also have stake pockets? | |||||
| Jerking, hard shifting, shaky idle, extended crank, and screeching. No CEL. | 10Relevance | 4 years ago | Noe45 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| I have a 2007 dodge Dakota 3.7 engine two wheel drive with just over 170,000 miles on it. There is no check engine light on but when I accelerate the truck jerks and pulls untill a steady speed is reached. It also shifts hard every now and then. There is no shaking when idling. Sometimes on a cold start it'll take a few extra cranks to turn on and it'll have a loud screeching sound for when the truck finally turns on | |||||

| I have a 1997 Mazda B4000 with 404106 miles, manual trans. When it gets cold outside the temp gauge goes from normal to cold and back when I use the heater and there is a thumping sound coming from the heater area on the right side. What could cause this, I have changed the thermostat, it started when I moved from sunny Tennessee to South Dakota. It also has a broken grille. Thanks Troy Holsworth | |||||
| Answer to: which tires should I buy | 10Relevance | 4 years ago | Dad2LM2 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| ... are usually pretty good). However, if I was putting tires on a car — in North Dakota — in December! — I probably wouldn’t do either. I’d look at the Michelin Crossclimate tires (I think the Crossclimate 2 is what you want). They are as close to a snow tire as you will get that you can still drive year round. Definitely expensive but probably worth it. Welcome to the forum! | |||||

They did comment that the inside of this truck is FILTHY and I looked at some pockets in the body and whatnot, it does have a accumulation of dried mud that I have never seen in a vehicle before. | Toyota Corolla Cross AWD or FWD | 10Relevance | 4 years ago | Nessmuk | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| My son (college student) is looking for a new car and narrowed it down to the Corolla Cross. However, we are undecided on AWD vs. FWD. He lives in South Dakota. Is the better handling of the AWD worth the added expense (+$1,300) and the lower reliability and higher maintenance? Or, should he just stick to the FWD (and keep it as simple as possible)? | |||||

| Answer to: Jerky acceleration, lacks power, hard shifts | 10Relevance | 4 years ago | MountainManJoe | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| it needs proper diagnosing by a competent mechanic. Something that can't be done over the internet. Since you're paying to have the work done, it won't be cheap and I'm not sure you want to spend that kind of money on a 23yo Dakota. Always have vehicles inspected BEFORE you buy. | |||||

| Hey Scotty, I bought a 99 dodge Dakota sport it’s got 130,000 miles on it. When I drive it takes a while to get up in speed and jerks when I accelerate on the gas. Also when I put in gear it’s a hard shift to another gear. I took it to the mechanic shop to have it looked at they replaced the intake gasket and it’s still doing the same thing. It’s the 5.2 liter V8 model. I think the car may need a tune up or it could be the fuel injectors needing replaced but I’m not sure I spent 4700$ on the truck and after the gasket replacement I had to put another 1500$ i ... | |||||
