| Intermittent flashing check engine light that then disappears and doesn't return | 16Relevance | 5 years ago | Triton8484 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| ... then drive it the next day at a lower speed (around 65 mph) I get a flashing check engine light that is sometimes paired with the Stabilitrak light. It lasts for about 1-2 minutes, the car shakes sideways while driving (traction issues) and the lights disappear if I slow down further or stop, after which I can drive again without any problems. Neither the check engine light nor Stabilitrak light comes back again. I've hooked up a cheap scan tool that shows no engine codes have been stored, and I haven't seen it resurface again as I just drive at lower speed ... | |||||

| Answer to: Clutch Replacement/ Part Supplier | 0Relevance | 4 years ago | Doc | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| If the clutch actually needs replacement, you need to do the entire clutch kit - clutch disc, pressure plate, throw out bearing and pilot bearing. Your flywheel doesn't need replacing unless it's badly cracked. Usually, I get mine resurfaced at an automotive machine shop. Make sure your adjustments for pedal height off the floor and freeplay before resistance at the pedal are as per manufacturers specifications. Check the clutch master cylinder for proper operation and clean fluid after bleeding the air out. | |||||
| Answer to: New head gasket leaking water in oil | 0Relevance | 4 years ago | Doc | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| If the new head gasket is leaking, either it wasn't installed correctly, the head wasn't torqued down in the correct sequence or to the correct torque, or the head is warped and needs to be resurfaced before re-installing it. You did not specify what engine you're working on. Most engines that use cylinder head bolts are one use only, that means you must use new cylinder head bolts or ARP studs with the new gasket. The old bolts cannot be used. | |||||

| ... their cruel magic. The rust extends somewhat beyond the bubbled area. If you press on the bubbled paint the body panel crumbles away, then you can't remove the rust in that area and resurface the metal -it's gone. If it doesn't, there may still be useable metal under it. You would want to sand off the rust and old paint on both sides, going about an inch or so beyond the obviously damaged area to make sure the rust is gone. Then you need to clean the area, mask it off from the rest of the panel, prime, paint, then clear coat it. It may look funky if it' ... | |||||

| ... clutch at 180,000 miles. Cost was about $550 for a clutch kit and I was lucky enough to find a machine shop to resurface the dual mass flywheel for $150. I did all the labor myself and it wasn't that bad of a job considering it's AWD. I have been very pleased with my car and plan to hit the 300,000 mark. A/c will freeze your nuts off on a 100 degree day, holds a perfect front end alignment and all the gizmos and gadgets work perfectly. Its actually been the most reliable car I've ever owned. Even more so than my F250 7.3l diesel pickup. I believe maintenanc ... | |||||

| ... has been resurfaced before, and this is the second time it is being resurfaced. The question: What type of head gasket should I use to compensate for the material removed by resurfacing, considering that the head is now at the minimum allowable thickness? Is it possible to install two OEM head gaskets (the type with a metal layer), or should we use a single gasket of the semi-composite/carbon type with a greater thickness than the OEM gasket? | |||||
| Noise after replacing brake pads | 0Relevance | 2 years ago | emerald_rush | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| I have a 2016 Nissan Versa with 86000 km. Last week I replaced the original pads that came with the car with new ones that I got from the dealer. The mechanic resurfaced my (also original) roters (first time) before putting the new pads in. I started hearing what I could only describe as a scratching noise - like a piece metal heavily scratching against the rotors. Not severe but it is hearable, especially when I turn the steering wheel left. At first it was only when I would press the brakes, but now the noise is there while the car is moving. I went b ... | |||||

| Hi Scotty, I have a 2000 Toyota 4runner Limited 4x4, 233K miles, automatic. About 15K miles ago I replaced the rear drum brakes with OEM parts and had the drums resurfaced at my local PEP Boy's. After the install of new parts including wheel cylinders all has gone fine until about 5-7K miles ago when the above concern started to present. It's most notable after subjecting the truck to water... rain, car wash, driving through wet areas... once I park it for a little bit of time, and then try to drive it forward the truck's passenger rear wheel locks up and dr ... | |||||

| It's AWD and if you have read Honda forums the dealers really didn't fix the problem. One just resurfaced the rotors the others just balanced etc. It doesn't seem to be transmission because it would shift rough etc. and it does not. Also the other people didn't have transmission issues either and they were the 9 speed ZF automatic. | |||||

| I have a 2015 XTS Cadillac with 51,000 miles. I'm getting scrubbing-like noise from my right front wheel. He said the rotor and pads were great and showed little wear. The mechanic said the rotor was rusted and probably warped. He wanted to do a front brake job for about $450. I had the rotor resurfaced and am still getting that noise. I'm thinking wheel bearing. It sounded similar to the clanks described in many videos as a failing cv joint, but at the time i swear it was not a straight CLANK OR CLUNK but more of a creak like you hear from an old door opening.
