| Ford Reliability ??? | 14Relevance | 5 years ago | sgharper | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| In 2014 I bought a used 2012 ford f150 with the 5.0 liter "coyote" engine in it with around 60,000 miles on it. At 63000 the back cylinder went dead on the drivers side. Bought it in montana but was in texas when all this took place. Went to the dealership south of kirbyville texas abt an hour. We cant help you rhe warranty is up at 60000 miles. Said it was driven without and air cleaner hahahaha-warranty guys. Brought it back to montana and called around to get it fixed. The engine building place I called thought I was another guy who's ford was in their that they hadnt decided what do with it yet. The guy told me he had one in the shop-two at dealerships they were looking for motors for-a guy on the high line was towing his down to have fixed with the sane problem and now mine. You cant bore them because the cylinders are chrome lined-you cant sleeve them-ford doesnt even offer parts to fix the engines. New engine installed with labor was close to 20 grand. And no guarantee it wont happen again. Several mechanics I talked to heard of this happening with the ford 5 liter motors but really didn't know what causes it or how to keep it from happening again. So like I told that warranty guy when he called me 6 months later to see if I still needed his help I told him I solved the problem and bought a Chevy. U bash Chevy and I agree with alot of what you say abt them BUT at least I can have a 5.7 motor fixed. Or get a crate motor from anywhere. Ford only sells ford motors. Their motor has a design flaw-they dont admit it-and as far as I'm concerned I'd never buy another ford anything ever and if they go out of business itd be just another junk manufacturer down the road. Is Chevy the best truck out there-no but this is what I know. I had a 95 put 189000 on it no problems had an 02 avalanche got rid of it at 180000 miles no issues at all and traded a 12 with 100000 on it-no issues at all for a 2017 nissan frontier. So far the frontier has been okay. Good truck but a little small for me. Anyhow just wanted to share my ford F150 experience with you and it sounds like ALOT of other people have had the same experience with them I had. Maybe talk abt that so people know. Thanks and take care Steve in montana sgharper@yahoo.com | |||||

| Hello Scotty, Need your opinion on a F150 crew cab 2010 with 150000 miles for $11000 from private owner. I'm reading conflicting information on it saying has a bad motor due to cam phaser. I read stuff about deleting them and list goes on yet also read the 09 & 10 years are okay. Help! Stop the madness. Vehicle seems to be in good shape and not beat on.. Not sure if your reply comes to me so I'm at firenrescue1@gmail.com thanks for your time Brian | |||||

| @imperator Do you know how I can edit my profile? It is suppose to say “Mystical One”. I must’ve hit the wrong key when I’m typing it in. If not, it’s no big deal. Thank you for your answer on the ignition switch. I appreciate your help. Have a great night. I’m headed to bed. It’s been a long day. Turning wrenches. LOL | |||||
| What to take in an emergency? | 8Relevance | 1 year ago | jxyooj71 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| 2020 Toyota Camry 68k miles. Hi, wondering what do you take as far as car maintenance stuff when you might have to evacuate? I'm by the fires in CA for context. So far I got: 2ton Pittsburgh low profile Jack, 2x Daytona 3 ton jack stands, 5qt 0w-16 full synthetic oil, 1x oil filter, tire inflator. Looking to cover bases and pack less/lighter, but not where I compromise durability/quality. Kinda debating on the off-road Badlands 3ton jack cuz smaller for instance. Thanks in advance! | |||||

| Is their car compatible with AGM? Don't AGM batteries require a charging system designed for AGM with the correct voltages and charging profile? how do you know? They aren't supposed full to the top. maybe. unlikely. How old was the battery? Did the battery have a removable top, or was it "maintenance-free"? I change it when I start experiencing problems. But the voltage was pretty low. I can't understand how it wasn't struggling to start, but I have a V8 not a 4 cylinder. | |||||

| First thing you don't do is to "hijack" someone else's topic to ask a question. (Your post has been split off into its own topic.) You can change your picture by selecting "My profile" at the top of the page, then "Account". In your account settings look for "Avatar" where you can set up your picture. Since you're new here I highly recommend you look over the forum rules and the site FAQ to get an idea of the way things work here, and commonly asked questions. Welcome to the forum! | |||||
