2004 Honda Civic high rpm when shifting

My brother's 2004 Honda Civic is revving very high before shifting. It has only done 50000 miles, and the fluid probably hasn't been changed. I'm thinking the transmission is okay with so few miles. What could be the potential issues?

How does your brother drive?

@yaser
He says normal driving. No pedal to the floor

Ask another driver to check the car just to make sure it is not driver based issue.

@yaser
Thanks man. Was planning on driving it myself. Hopefully he has a heavy foot

How long do you have this car? If not first owner, had the car been checked before it was bought? Do you believe it has only 50k miles?

Does it make so only when cold or all the time? Perhaps it is slipping and wearing out. Perhaps the filter is clogged.

Did you have it scanned? Perhaps there is an electronic problem.

@g-t
Only a few weeks. I checked over the car myself. Scanned with no codes. I'm from the UK and the mileage is verified in a few ways.

It does cold and hot. I took it for a test drive and did not do this.

As far as I'm aware these cars don't have a filter right? Straight drain and refill?

That sounds fishy. Do you in UK have one month warranty on used cars?
You can also add an additive to improve friction (Lucas oil or something similar) if you will change the fluid.

Seems Honda is not so reliable after all.

@jimz
It is Civic not Accord.

Transmissions stilll not good.

In that website, you can find issues with any car. I personally do not know if it is valid.

Lots of people go there to bitch. Shame they do not return to say what the end was.
