Scott with the rising gas prices is it smart to get a slightly used 2020 Toyota sienna if not what mini van would you select to getting for the best value?
Realize that Sienna is a heavy van and you usually do not expect them to have a good gas mileage unless you take the hybrid one, but in the long run, the gasoline version would cost less.
Minivans are a disappearing commodity. Three row SUV's are minivans in disguise - the disguise protects the owners from appearing practical.
If you need a minivan and mpg is a determining factor in your purchase the 2022 Sienna is hybrid. Toyota has a good history when it comes to hybrid technology. I know the 2021 was hybrid too but used cars are so expensive now that buying new would probably be worth it a lot more (and 2022 is the second year with hybrid on Sienna).
If you plan on keeping it for a very long time such as 10 or more years or 300k miles then gasoline only would be a better choice.
Also, if you a suv will be okay instead of a minivan then there are a lot more options/choices with SUVs and you have a lot more you can pick from.
I own an '06 I got it for $4500 back in 2020. The 2020s have the 3.5L 2GR-FE engine it's not as DIY friendly as the 04-06s which have the 3.3L 3MZ-FE they changed to the 3.5 in '07 and used that til 2020. 2021-2022 are all hybrids. The 3.3 3MZ-FE are from the best line of engines Toyotas ever used. But they do have a rubber timing belt where the 3.5 has a chain. If you go with a 2020 make sure the oil cooler line has been replaced with a steel one instead of rubber or you'll regret it. Happy hunting.
