Add 2nd ATF cooling radiator?

I have 2011 Honda Ridgeline RTL and it has ATF cooler, a small one, on it. I was wondering if I can add another ATF radiator. Bring atf fluid pipe from where it comes out of the existing one, and hose it to go back to transmission. Is that a good idea? If so anything I should watch out for? Thank you, I’m traumatized with AT failure with previous vehicles I owned in the past(Dodgex2)

I think you can relax. A failed Dodge transmission is pretty much a guarantee.

I'm sure Honda makes sure their transmissions are able to handle normal needs. So unless you're regularly towing heavy loads, and you are measuring excessive ATF temps, I don't think it's worth the added fittings and complexity.

Thank you. I’m planning a long haul coming summer if that’s allowed. I will be towing close to the limit.. I heard Ridgeline weak point is transmission and I would like to do what I can reasonably do to protect it beyond frequent transmission FL changes. Going up Rockies with 3500lb trailer behind is pretty concerning to me😓

Just take it easy when you go. Pull off into the rest areas and let it idle a bit to let the transmission and brakes cool down. Shifting to lower gears will also increase the transmission pump RPM and help keep it cooler. Change the fluid every 50k or so and I think you'll be ok.
