Engine shuts off after 10-15 minutes, battery seems draining

Hello Friends!

My car is an Asian Nissan Sentra, automatic, 2001 or 2002 model, similar to this one:

It cannot be read by my bluetooth obd2 scanner.

For some reason the battery keeps on draining, even while the engine is running.

Here's the scenario:

The battery is dead.  I jump start it with another car.  The car with dead battery is now running.  After about 10 to 15 minutes, the engine shuts down.  I check the voltage; it is now below 12.6 volts.   It would continually go down.  The battery would be completely discharged after several days (I'm assuming).

Where should I start?

Thank you very much.

Your alternator is going out. Replace it.

When your car does start and run on its own, what does the volt meter say your battery voltage is when it its running?

It is exhibiting typical bad alternator characteristics but it can also be that your battery is no longer good anymore not being able to hold a charge also. It would be a good idea to have both load tested. You can have it done at auto part store, like O'reilly's etc...

Get your battery tested before you go and replace the alternator it could just be sulfated and have no reserve capacity.  It very well could need an alternator as well but just test the battery first
