ES350 Oil Level

I bought a 2012 Lexus ES350 last year.  At your recommendation, I had a long time mechanic (in the city where I traveled to buy the car) go over it and he have it a great bill of health.  However, I noticed shortly after buying the car that the oil dipstick showed about a half quart overfull.  I had the oil and filter changed but each time the dipstick shows about a half quart overfull.  The overfull reading isn't just after the oil change it stays at that overfull level until the next oil change.  Should I suction a half quart out or is the overfull condition okay?  Both places that have changed my oil say they are putting the specified 6.4 quarts in the car as indicated in the owners manual.  What causes this overfill indication and what should I do about it?  Thank you.

Could it be that the spec is 6.4 LITRES, not quarts? A quart is about 40oz.  A litre is about 32 oz.

Are you checking the dipstick when the engine is cold or after it sat for a while?

Thanks for the suggestion. I check the level before driving in the morning...before starting the car.

They are overfilling. Half a quart won't hurt anything but if it bothers you, you can remove until the right level.

Does the dipstick have a broken lid or stop? Possibly going in too far? Also check the manual for amount of oil to put in including the filter.

Thanks for the suggestion. No the dipstick is not broken and I check the dimensions of a new oem replacement dipstick and my current dipstick meets all the OEM specs. Thanks for the idea though.

Check the oil yourself to see if the issue still exists.

@yaserThanks for the suggestion. Yes, I do check the dipstick oil level myself. Two different stations have changed my oil/filter and both added the recommended 6.4 qts. However, the half quart overfull (according to dipstick) persists.
