Question about 2 vehicles

Hello Scotty and thanks in advance for taking the time out of your busy schedule to answer my questions.

I wanted to purchase 2 vehicles, a 2019 honda civic type r, not a year older or younger. As well as some old beater truck that can last a long time and can take more milage than a las vegas cathouse.

How much should I be paying for a honda civic type r? How long should I wait for the price to go down. I feel like it's not worth the price it is today. However, you would know better. Are there any other manual cars you can recommend like the civic type r that can turn like a supercar? Can I make most cars take corners like a super car with some kind of aftermarket suspension system?

Also, for beater truck, what would you suggest that can take a beating and can last a very long time. I'd preferably like a manual truck just because I prefer driving manual. I don't care about the year just as long as it's not a Ford because I've only heard bad things about Ford and that they're known to be big pieces of sh*t.

Thanks again and take care.

Clarification: For beater truck, OP is looking at full-size.

As a result they often sell for more than MSRP brand new and are rare on the used market. The closest competitor would be the Subaru STI, although you won't get that very cheap either. You could try a Civic SI or a Subaru WRX and soo if those fit your needs. As for the truck, for the most part Ford actually isn't bad with trucks. The new Ranger is garbage but the previous ones were solid. The Chevrolet S10 and GMC Sonoma were also solid. The Chevrolet Colorado and the GMC Canyon can be okay if you can get them dirt cheap. Of course the Toyota trucks are the best but you will pay through the nose for those.

The Civic Type R is not easy to get for a decent price. You can try to get the Civic Si and then mod it like putting a turbocharger to act like the Honda Civic Type R. As for trucks, get the Ford and Chevy trucks. Ford and Chevy trucks are complete electronic crap nowadays.

The Civic SI is also turbocharged.

True, you can put a different turbo that produces more horsespower than the orignial turbocharged Civics

The Honda Civic Type R will not be seeing a reduction in price anytime soon. It is a limited production vehicle and they are selling like hot cakes for thousands over MSRP. It is a lot of car for the money.

Sure, you can make lots of cars turn like a "supercar". But how much do you want to spend? My '98 Z28 has road coursed with some of my clients that have exotics and it handles great. But I've got $8000 in top-end BMR suspension upgrades alone, not to mention brakes, tires, and everything that goes into it. Just slapping coilovers on won't do it.

What is your goal with the car? Daily driver, track car, mix usage, cruiser? Figure that out and then you can better match yourself with a car that meets those needs.

As for a truck, the old Fords were excellent and nothing like these new POS trucks everyone (except Toyota) is cranking out. For an example, here is one Scotty just worked on that was left in a field to die for a LONG time:

So my goal with a car is to be fast yet comfortable. I need something that has a reputation for lasting a long time and is enjoyable to drive. I chose the new civic type r because it seems like a very fun car to drive that will last a long time and is known for reliability. I can always make upgrades on it to improve comfort qualities like heated seats and much better rear seats. I'd like to take this car to the track sometimes but not all the time. Maybe like once or twice a month. It'll be driven every week but not a daily driver. I'd rather put as many miles as I can on a "beater truck"(a truck that belongs on trailer park boys, very reliable with a classy raggedy look haha). So far, I've found old toyota tacoma trucks that are still kicking. Also, the civic type r would make a great sleeper car without paying as much for a supercar. I want a manual car that is really fun to drive and would always put a smile on my face when I drove it. I like how the type r corners super well without being a high end sports car or super car over $60,000 and up.

Then I'd recommend the Type R as it is worth the price. Also I'd look at older Tacomas. If you can find one in your price range, Tacoma or Tundra would be your best bet.

For beater trucks (you didn’t specify which type - midsize, full-size, half ton, etc.) see below:

Forgive me, full size or bigger

The ideal old pickup would be a Toyota Pickup (yes thats the model name) but also a 90s and before Nissan truck should also be a good choice if the Toyota is too expensive.

Chevy "OBS" like 1988-2000 isn't a bad choice.  Capable of 500,000 miles easily with reasonable care if not subjected to road salt.  The later LS engines are good too.  I would avoid the 6-speed transmission and so forth they came up with by 2009 though.
