Poor 1-2 shift

Hi, I have a 2014 Honda Accord. I got it off a two year lease and admittedly haven't done any sort of tuneup and have just changed the oil regularly. I'm assuming it needs a tune up etc. The car has about 90,000 miles. The mechanic quoted me at 800 to replace spark plugs, rotate tires, and some other stuff that  I can't quite recall (he's going to give me a list when I go in). From watching one of the videos I recall Scotty saying NOT to flush the transmission fluid. So this is why I said "I'd think about" the suggested list and not do it today. I don't want to screw up my transmission. Am I correct that the fluid should be replaced but not "flushed"? If I shouldn't flush it then WHY is that the case? Just in the past few weeks the car has buck/slipped a few times going from what would be first to second or second to third, if it were a standard (unless it's my imagination) and it hasn't done this before so I am slightly worried. Also, what other things should I do for the car at 90,000? Thank you!

You did not state the engine type, 4-cylinder or V6. If it's the latter, and the timing belt and water pump have never been replaced, now would be a good time to do that. (The 4-cylinder engine has a timing chain that does not normally need to be serviced.) If spark plugs are original it's probably about time for those as well. Service interval should be in the owner's manual.

If coolant has never been replaced that is certainly past due at this point.

For transmission fluid issues please see the FAQ where detailed information has been collected and let us know if you have further questions. In short, power-flushing a transmission using an external pump can potentially cause damage. From your description it sounds like you are already experiencing transmission problems and you don't want to make it worse.
