I bought a 20002 mustang with the 4.6 litter v8 with 76k miles and manual. I looked around and it says that there is no difference what gas I should use, but that premium is better for v8 and reduces knocking. Is it important enough for me to use premium or not?

Look at your owners manual or find a pdf of it online. It should clearly tell you what octane you should use. But from what you have put on here, it seems like premium gas is recommended for your mustang, meaning you can still use regular if you want without causing any harm, but it will have slightly decreased power/fuel economy. But still, you should really check with your owners manual.
