| Scotty, I've had a 2009 Kia rio for 13 years now. I know your sentiment about Kias. I bought it used with 29K miles and for the most part the vehicle has been fairly reliable. It was built in Korea, has a manual transmission. I've had the clutch, the timing belt, and the starter repalced. Nothing catatrophic has happened to this vehicle until now. It began to stall out while idling at a traffic light, but would start back up. I did notice that the check engine light wasn't coming on. I thought it might be something minor like a crankshaft sensor or ... | |||||

| ... I have trepedation because I have to suck it up and take this vehicle to a ASE-certified (Automotive Service Excellence) mechanic by myself. But first, I need to find that one Toyota Camry!! Please Help.... I lack any help from family or friends. 😔 I hope to find this car within the 30 day period before my approval expires at my credit union. (that's what they told me) I watched one of your videos about how reliable the Toyota Camry is and went ahead and searched every place I could but some of these cars have problems. I wonder if this area of th ... | |||||

| ... it. Although the G4NS seems to be a sweet engine (decent power, economy, and is port injected), it's mated to a horrible tranny! (Even worse than what you've had on the Fit, the Hyundai-Kia iVT doesn't seem to hold up) Your Honda CVT lasted 25,000 miles - by Hyundai-Kia iVT standards that's like 25 times over some! I wish I was kidding, the SELTOS is also equipped with the iVT, read testimonies at complaints -> powertrain. It has famously blew up (had a catastrophic failure with the housing breaking, parts flying and fluid spilling on ... | |||||

| 2017 Kia Sportage bought used from carmax, approx 70k miles knock sensor replacement Hey Scotty, The Kia sportage broke down once, oil was changed and it ran for approx 5k more miles. Oil light came back on and we noticed the dipstick burnt. We continually checked and topped off oil every 5-600 miles as the level would continually drop. Couple months of topping off later, the sportage loses power and we drive home slowly(max, 30 mph). Shutter at acceleration from stop and loses power. Carmax takes it in and sends to Kia to replace knock sensor ... | |||||

| The gearbox model on Kias is written on the gearbox case where it mates to the engine. It's usually visible from the engine bay looking down to the right of the engine standing facing the front of the vehicle. Kia designates that gearbox conventional torque converted automatic (when installed on their cars) as "A8MF1". But the North American Sportage has a very cramped hood area so it's probably hard to locate the markings. Requires trying to look through in this area, it's way down there. (It also has the marking on the bottom of the transmi ... | |||||
| Answer to: Should I replace my 2015 Rio with a 2010 Corolla? | 15Relevance | 4 years ago | Dan | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| ... come. I think the price is a bit too much, I remember them being less expensive. So let's say you drive the US average 12.7k miles, in 5 years your Rio will be 12 years old and have 127k miles - which is about as much as they last. The Corolla will be 17 years old and have 175k miles - which is about as much as these last. So pretty much on average - no difference as far as how much life is left in either. Judging by your post history you're constantly occupied with replacing the Rio, So at this point, if that'll make you feel better, just go f ... | |||||

I was kinda thinking getting rid of it because it's a Kia and because of TPMS, but maybe I need to hold onto it; I just hate how the value of it is decreasing significantly and it won't ever be as reliable as a Toyota/Honda but I'm stuck with a big loan.

| The Kia Carnival (Sedona) has a Lambda engine which is known for rattling valves which are very expensive to fix. It has been recalled for fires, over and over. The thing is, Kia doesn't know how to make engines. They've recalled six million vehicles just since 2015 for fire risk, and millions more are under investigation now (right up to current models). Their engines and transmissions often fail or catch fire days after leaving the factory. They've been fined a quarter of a billion dollars, because they knowingly ignore problems, and paid billions more in ... | |||||

| There are a lot of unknowns to be able to provide an accurate recommendation. You state that your Kia runs fine. Did you purchase your Kia new? Has it been maintained according to the manufacturer’s recommended service schedule? Does it have problems which are prompting you to consider the Lexus? Typically the Lexus is of higher quality than Kia, as Doc commented.Yet as DayWalker advised, he has knowledge of complaints about this Lexus model year on this forum. The is250 is very high mileage and 15 years old. Have you had it checked by a knowledgeable mech ... | |||||

| ... cars to last more then that. But then we should also consider that in Europe there's much less highway driving, and a lot more stop and go. Owner preference when it comes to powertrain choice. Seeing a 2.0 on a new car in Europe is quite uncommon, in the US the best selling models are all 2.0 or more. For contrast the cheapest base model Kia Sportage in the US has a 2.5L. As a matter of fact, virtually all Hyundai-Kia cars in the US have GDi/T-GDi engines that last 50%-80% less than MPi models. But that's soon to change, a lot of new Europea ... | |||||

| I don't like Hyundai, most of the time I'd suggest getting a different car,BUT:Where I live they have almost 40% marketshare - Hyundai and Kia are considered to be workhorses, 4/5 and 6/10 best sellers are Hyundai-Kia products (And it ain't the cheap ones)That's also the theme in Europe, Hyundai-Kia ranks 4th by sales amount and their cars are very popular with Sportage being the 3rd best selling SUV overall, and the Tuscon has been in top 10 best sellers for as long as I can remember them making it.Also their HEV/EV game is incredibly strong, In 2025 that'l ... | |||||

Mother who watched son burn to death in SUV fire joins calls for answers from Kia, Hyundai: And don't forget that Toyota sells A LOT more vehicles than Hyundai/Kia, so of course a recall will affect many more. It's the recall RATES that matter. And Hyundai does not take responsibility. We've seen it time and again. They do everything they can to blow off customers. (like their oil burning "tests"). | Good Day Scotty! 😊 My wife and I have a 2012 Kia Sorento EX, 3.5L V6, with approximately 147,000kms on it. We would like to sell it, but there's a problem.., an electrical one. Approx. 2.5 years ago, we had to replace the Kia's alternator, then approx. a year ago we noticed the headlights started going on and off (along with gauge indicators in the cabin) while stopped at a red light, or while parked. Certain functions (i.e. heated seats) would immediately click off if engaged. Oh, and the engine light came on. We had the battery checked (had a ...
