| RE: 2008 Hyundai Coupe/Tiburon opinions in Slovenia | 15Relevance | 5 years ago | Dan | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| @InThrustWeTrust , yeah the Delphi fuel system wasn’t reliable, after 2009 they switched their fuel systems to Siemens and those are super reliable. Also this is what long service intervals do to these engines, in Europe they claim you need to replace your oil every 20,000 miles and that’s a lie, on these engines you should actually replace it every 6,000 miles and that’s even pushing it, on mine I did it every 4.5k miles (I do that on all my cars) and never in 180,000 miles had a single issue with the powerplant. Also oil consumption is not a common issue at all to have on the K9K… I’ve seen those fail in so many ways but I don’t remember oil consumption being a major issue in these… (@Mateas1985 , it loosing power is probably the fuel system getting clogged, are both of your fuel filers clean? If so I’d test the injector system and the fuel pressure…) | |||||

| Hi, @g-t , thanks for letting me know of this question 🙂 The Renault Kangoo with the 1.5L dCi diesel is a very good car as long as it’s a manual. As far as the engine goes, it’s one of the best engines out there. however there are somethings you should look out for: model before 2009 had Delphi fuel systems and these do not tolerate low quality fuel. if you didn’t change the oil every 10,000km, but chose to do it every 30,000km instead, these engines do develop bushing cracks. and it’s important to not forget to replace the timing belt, if you forget to do this and the belt snaps - if will be a very costly repair. expect these three these issues, the Renault K9K 1.5L Diesel can easily last 300,000km or even 400,000km with good maintenance. but poor maintenance can kill it as early as 100,000 km, bushing cracking on these is very severe from my personal experience with a Renault 1.5L diesel (Renault Fluence, I changed my oil every 7,500 km cause oil is cheaper then engines) these engines and transmissions are indestructible. Hyundai’s of that era are nothing special… they’re not terrible but they usually don’t last for too long either. | |||||
| 2008 Lexus es350 - Opinions needed.. | 15Relevance | 4 years ago | 21xse | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hi, I bought my 2008 ES350 in March of 2021 with 59,990 miles from my Toyota dealer. Currently, I have 64,100 miles as I do not drive much. I live in a northern state, there is no rust at all on the car. Once a month I run the vehicle through a touchless car wash in the winter, so that helps too. (The water pressure is not insane, so please don't worry about that... Lol) It has been serviced at the Lexus dealer by older people. Back in March, the Toyota dealer had replaced the two front axles and the wiper blades. They had informed me before I bought it that there is a steering wheel shake at 70ish MPH, which is noticeable and has gotten progressively worse. I need opinions on whether or not to fix the current issues or sell the vehicle and get something newer/new. The current issues are; Flashing tpms light, loud either squeaking/grinding noise on startup, tires could use replacing, braking performance is terrible, steering wheel shake from 1 or 2 wheels (It goes away once I get the tires rotated.)... In April the TPMS light came on, I had gone to the dealer for an oil change as they never changed it before I bought it which was strange, the light magically had turned off and they could not figure it out. The light turned on about a week after that. I had replaced my brakes at the Toyota dealer in December of 2021, they used Lexus parts. Now in January, the braking performance has gone back to how it used to be, and periodically they grind while braking. Toyota won't warranty them either... The steering wheel shake is most likely a bent rim, as the first owner hit a pothole at 3,000 miles in 08 and reported a steering wheel shake/pulls to the right. My tires are dated back in 2016, so they aren't unbalanced. If I were to get a new(er) vehicle, it would be either a current-gen Corolla, Mazda 3 hatch (as I do not want CD), current-gen accord 1.5 or 2.0t, 21'cx-30, 20' Rav4, or a 2021 Camry. I am weary of Honda with reliability, but Honda has been making turbo engines for years so they know what they're doing. Any opinions would help me out big time, all the repairs come to a total of at least 1200, possibly even more... The vehicle (Private party) is worth 13-15K, trade-in 11-12.5K (With everything I have done to the vehicle, ceramic coating, leather/plastic/vinyl treatments, etc.) Thank you! | |||||

| I honestly have never owned a car nice enough for a polish/wax, but I decided my brand new pear white 2020 Ford Fusion might fit this bill. Back when I got my 2015 Focus tuxedo black automatic (Big tranny issues and a huge mistake overall), I used a friend's NuFinish on it and remember it turning out nicely. I was wondering on all of you guy's opinions on it. I have a few questions... 1. Is it safe 2. How does it line up against other products of its type (I.E. pros and cons of polishes vs waxes) 3. What are your personal opinions on it, and what would you recommend (if not Nu-Finish) to keep the coat looking nice. Thanks for any insight. | |||||

| @rockstarnick See these are all different opinions. And that is great to have on a forum like this. What's the point of having a forum that only praises car brands like Toyota and Honda because of Scotty's hype and bashes on others like BMW and Mercedes? It's great to share our opinions. | |||||

| @mod_man Ford quality is crap. Well said. People here are usually going off Scotty's opinions and not their own. For example, just because Scotty says BMW is a money pit or a Dodge is a rolling pile of junk doesn't always hold true and varies from person to person. I try to stay unbiased and strictly use my experience, not other people's opinions. | |||||
| Stripped Camshaft Bolt Thread | 14Relevance | 3 years ago | capo3294 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hey guys, what up So, putting back together my hyundai Tiburon 2000 after a head gasket change, I stripped the thread out of one of the exhaust camshaft bearing cap bolt holes, number 4 on the inside, more than half the thread came out with the bolt. However, the remaining threads still picked up on the bolt, so I snug it back with some medium threadlocker and the other bolt well tight with threadlocker too. What do you guys think? I'm toast or is there some chance of it working proper for a while at least? Haven't started the engine yet and doin ... | |||||

| 2014 is a good year for Mazda. In 2015, they had a partnership with Toyota, and in the 2014-2017 years they had their own powertrain and proven to be reliable, and didn't have turbos or cylinder deativation. Not as good as lets say a Toyota, but still a good crossover. The 2.5 engine is also good because it isn't as sluggish as the 2.0. Here is what Scotty thinks: (BTW they are two different videos even though he used the same thumbnail) Also about the video Day Walker put above, its outdated. Scotty's opinions have changed rapidly in the last year or so as the newer Mazdas are improving. Scotty is refering to the Mazdas of the time of Ford 8 10 15 years ago, as that was what he was working on at the time. Now, you can find his opinions in the above videos, and I see him commonly refer to Mazdas as "good cars" and "excellent choices" etc. Here is what Scotty said in 2019: "Lately my customers with Mazdas they've been reasonably happy with their vehicles and they are pretty dependable" He ranked it 3rd in the best car brands after Toyota Honda (if you don't count Ford as he wasn't refering to their cars) | |||||
| My car makes a weird, whining sound? | 14Relevance | 4 years ago | tightmindsama | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| ... I just returned the MAF sensor. Put the old one on because the old one was working better. I found that my valve cover needs to be replaced as the car oil was so low wasn't even on the dipstick. My radiator fluid was low as well. Every time I rev the engine, a weird whining sound comes from the fuel rail. I made sure that all the vacuum lines are connected right? The PCV valve line looks like gunked up so I bought a new PCV valve and will replace the hose as well. I'm not sure this will fix the whining sound. | You were hardly moving if it came to a stop in 5 feet. A friend of mine had his brakes go out in his 2001 Tiburon coming down an off ramp going highway speed. He shifted it into park without thinking, somehow the parking pawl held up to that abuse and stopped the car! My old Pontiac stalled last year when I was creeping in traffic and I accidentally shifted to park to restart it, not neutral. It clicked a couple times then I caught it and fixed my mistake. I haven't had a problem. My truck's parking brake had sticking problems and one time the left side rand ... | |||||

I have replaced the fuel pump, spark plugs, air filter, throttle position sensor, air idle sensor, maf sensor, crank angle sensor. Cleaned the throttle body and oxygen sensors pre and post.
