| RE: Subaru Outback or Hyundai Tuscon | 26Relevance | 2 years ago | Florida_Mike | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| ... last 4 vehicles have been Kia and Hyundai models without any problems and kept until 75-80k miles each. Changed the oil with synthetic every 5k. I like the bumper-to-bumper 5yr/60k and 10yr/100k of the Hyundai / Kia. The car I had before that was a subaru outback which I ran until 140k miles. No. Problems either. Same oil change with synthetic every 5k. Liked the car, but then I lived in MN. But living in Florida I don’t need an AWD - and hate the idea if I need a tire change if have to replace all 4. And the Warranty is only 36k/36mo. .Not especiall ... | |||||

| @yaserThere was a class action lawsuit over it. I recall this mainly because a friend bought a new outback in 2015 and I was a bit concerned for him, however that vehicle has not had any problems. I did a quick search and it seems that 2011-2015 models are affected, which is longer than I thought, though as I said my buddy's 2015 outback has not had any problems: subaru's newer CVT transmissions (2015+) seem to do OK (better than Nissan but not as good as Toyota), but for a long-term vehicle the stick shift is far preferable. | |||||

| 1997 subaru Impreza outback Sport Wagon 4D 230,000 miles Manual The owner states, that the car won't stay in 4th gear and recommends a new transmission. Other than that, it has been well maintained. I have not gone to look at the car yet. The reason I'm interested is because of my former 1999 subaru Impreza Sport Wagon 4D; which I'd probably still have if it hadn't been in the middle of some "family dispute" as 78 bullets were fired into my neighborhood. One of the drivers was shot, then as he threw his stolen car into reverse, and smashed mine on the f ... | |||||

| Hi Scotty, I have a friend that loves you, ronnie valley, but anyway…I bought a 2017 subaru outback Pzev, 134,000 miles, perfectly maintained car fax records. I have not owned this car 8 months yet! Brought it in oil change, dummy light went on so 9/30/21 got oil change. Plug was stuck, guy heated it up to remove, changed oil, off I go…2 weeks later I noticed little drip spots in my garage, take it back in, he tightened plug off I go. Everything is perfect, nice ride…go to visit daughter 75 miles away, drove perfect. Went to Costco. Shop for 1/2 hour…start c ... | |||||

| I have a 2016 subaru outback 2.5i Limited/GDF 98348 miles. I've taken it to a local garage twice and they haven't been able to find anything wrong (smoke test and all the parts check out). Reset twice and it's back, called the service dept. at subaru with the code and they told me probably a gas cap and they want too much money per hour for diagnosis. I live in the very rainy Pacific NW and it seems that the engine light comes on when we are out driving in the rain or when it sits in the garage overnight after coming in from the rain and starting it the next ... | |||||

| Hello Scotty. I have a 2015 subaru outback 2.5 1st owner with 64k. I read the CVT are made by jatco, this true? since subaru gives only 100k warranty on them and didn't recall them, if at 101k miles CVT dies, it does cost $8000 TO fix. thinking of selling it and buying a 2021 highlander since I dont wanna be stuck with a 8k dollar bill. what you think? thanks. | |||||

| I’m thinking about trading my 2019 Honda Passport with 37k/mi for a 2022 subaru outback XT certified with 21k on it. With the gas priced as they are, and thinking long term with a car that has reliability and longevity, do you think this car with the proper maintenance could last 200k miles? My fear is that it has a turbo and the life expectancy may have a shorter term than that. Big fan of yours! | |||||

| Hi Scotty, Next year the lease of our 2022 Hyundai Tucson SEL,…and we do love the car and how quiet it is. We are thinking of BUYING our next car in 2024 or early 2025. I wish we could afford a Toyota RAV4,…however with the features my wife says we must have are limiting our choices to either a subaru outback Premium or Hyundai Tucson Limited. Of the two,…which would you buy? Thanks. | |||||

| Scotty, I have a 2012 Prius C4, with 81000 miles. No car payments❤️ Never a problem with this car, I bought it new. Fantastic gas mileage. I’m going to start Traveling Nursing in Colorado, Montana and East Coast. I was contemplating a subaru outback. Hate to loose the gas mileage😢. I live in Missouri and had to use my 1995 Chevy truck to get to work. Prius not good in deep snow, low to the ground. What do you think? | |||||
| Answer to: I’m looking to Buy a 2012 Subaru Outback? | 23Relevance | 3 years ago | Chuck Tobias | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| That's a ripoff price for a 12-year-old outback. The 2012 model has the older design 2.5 boxer engine with timing belt and is very prone to blowing head gaskets. If there is no proof that the gaskets have already been changed you can count on having to do that job and it costs $$$$. Timing belt replacement is expensive and is overdue if that one is still original. Also that car has an early version of subaru's "Lineartronic" CVT which is very likely on its last legs. I'd run away screaming from that deal. | |||||
