| Answer to: Toyota and Honda Owners switching to Tesla? | 29Relevance | 3 years ago | Whatchamacallit | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Here’s my theory: People, like me, initially gave into Toyota and Honda on the idea that the car would be reliable and not need much repairs under their ownership. Maintenance and total cost of ownership would be less than rivals..Then, when EVs (and tesla being the poster child) came out a new message was spread about EVs being little-to-no maintenance, very few moving parts compared to ICE (and therefore less things to go wrong), and total cost of ownership that would be less than even a Toyota or Honda. I have seen comparisons showing cost of maintenance ... | |||||

| This might have been covered: So it rains a lot in Scotland in the UK. A couple take their EV out during a storm and water ingresses into the electrics, destroying the car. It's not ocvered by the warranty and tesla want $33,000 to replace the battery. Also took 5 hours for tesla roadside assisstance to tun up. I suppose they had to run the diesel generators to charge their recovery vehicle. | |||||

| ... you said before (recently) you would not own a tesla outside of warranty. So much for “fewer moving parts” and “low maintenance”. And this is the top selling EV brand (by far) in the US. I am happy the transplant automakers will get a chance to build EVs inside of the US. Let’s give tesla more (and far better) competition. | |||||

| Welp, I am talking about your market and: tesla is on track to out sell Ford, and the Chevy brand next year, Over 400,000 cars in Q3 - this is as mainstream as it gets. - The tesla model Y outsold the Camry, CR-V and is the 5th best seller in 2023. The tesla model 3 outsold the Corolla, Accord, and Civic. What's more mainstream than that? - With such sales, it's clear they have moved beyond early adopters and enthusiasts. - Y'know, calling the 5th best selling car in the US - "non mainstream" is odd... | |||||

| The "5-8 year" timeframe was chosen carefully as teslas have an 8 year drivetrain and battery warranty. Personally I would not even consider a tesla out of warranty.-Thermal cycling is less of an issue, unlike early EVs modern ones have decently advanced thermal management - I do not see drive unit electronic thermal management being an issue on modern EVs when it wasn't an issue for PHEVs like the Prius Plug-in.-Yes, currently a Toyota Camry will outlive any EV.Yet, Electronics and battery tech are definitely improving, Toyota (working with BYD) are warrant ... | |||||
| Toyota and Honda Owners switching to Tesla? | 29Relevance | 3 years ago | Whatchamacallit | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hey Scotty, You constantly recommend Toyotas and Hondas to your viewers; however, a recent report by SPGlobal has shown that amongst tesla EV vehicles sold from October 2021 to September 2022 about 28.6% of the “conquest buyers” have come from Toyota and Honda combined. Here is the breakdown of conquest buyers: Toyota 15.3% Honda 13.3% BMW 6.7% Mercedes 6.2% Ford 5.4% Lexus 5.3% Chevrolet 4.7% Audi 4.4% Subaru 4.3% . Scotty, why would such a large percentage of Toyota and Honda owners switch to tesla? Have they lost their mind?! . Source: | |||||
| Why does Tesla Keep Cutting Prices? | 29Relevance | 3 years ago | Whatchamacallit | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| We are all used to seeing automakers raise the prices (i.e. MSRPs) of their vehicles over time? However, it seems throughout 2023 tesla has been slashing the prices of their vehicles numerous times. For example, on the Model S and X tesla dropped prices 7 times already this year! From the beginning of the year to now, tesla dropped prices of the Model S and X by $30,000 and $41,000, respectively. Prices for their Model 3 and Y have dropped up to $30,000. . Scotty, What the heck is going on?! I imagine those that bought these vehicles before the pri ... | |||||
| Answer to: Are Tesla's Garbage??? | 29Relevance | 4 years ago | JamesTheWiz | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| tesla's are cool and efficient cars, but are not long term reliable in my opinion. In 20 years or more, they will most likely shut down support for certain models, so they can be hard to maintain, possibly, and to top that, not just on tesla's, but all EVs will go through this issue with the battery architecture becoming obsolete with time, so they won't make those battery cells anymore to keep the car going, since it is an old technology. With technology progressing, I wouldn't dare keeping an EV, they will age like smartphones will. Not great. lol. To me, ... | |||||

| Answer to: Will the cybertruck be outsold? | 22Relevance | 5 years ago | Whatchamacallit | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| I think the Big Three will outsell the Cybertruck eventually, just like the rest of the auto industry will eventually outsell tesla in terms of EV vehicles (cars and CUVs) sold. They have greater production capability and experience manufacturing than tesla does. It may not be right away but, yes, they will surpass tesla. There will be some demand for EVs and EV trucks (just like there is for supercars and hypercars) but it will be a tiny sliver for a while. But, plug-in hybrid trucks seem more likely to catch on over all-electric trucks. | |||||
| Keep or sell my 2007 Lexus LS460 L? | 22Relevance | 5 years ago | Nitel2020 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| ... and I'm interested in selling or trading in my Lexus for a 2014 tesla Model S P85D. My question is, should I keep my Lexus or try and sell/trade it in on a tesla? Doing so would save a lot of money per month on gas with the tesla as most of my driving is done in the city. Thank you for viewing, looking forward to seeing some answers. | |||||
| Answer to: Tesla longevity | 29Relevance | 5 years ago | Dan | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| tesla is a total mess - Unlike most hybrids were the battery lasts about 5-10 years, but costs only a couple grand to repair - On tesla when the battery dies - It is at least 15,000 USD + . Also on tesla there is bad parts availability and no repair information. That being said, It's most EVs nowadays. Currently, I'm starting to see more and more evidence that the Mach-E is a total mess also. I do not currently have any information on the ID4, But knowing modern VW it's also probably a mess... Just either get a hybrid, maybe a PHEV (like a Coro ... | |||||
| Answer to: Tesla longevity | 29Relevance | 5 years ago | Whatchamacallit | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| See below: Realize tesla has poor quality control and since they don’t share repair information with anyone you have to go to them for repairs, so imagine what happens when the vehicle is out of warranty - $$$. That’s why I tell folks to lease them under warranty, and also to have another vehicle when their tesla is disabled (either in the shop or waiting on parts - which can take a while, very frustrating). Another thing too is while ICE is fairly mature, EVs are in their infancy and will continue to get better over time (just look at computers and ... | |||||
| 2021 or 2022 Jeep Wrangler vs Tesla 3 | 29Relevance | 5 years ago | jdavani | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hello. I currently own a 2013 honda cr-v with 103,000 miles. I'm not planning on getting a new vehicle for a year or so, but I'm currently just browsing. That being said, I am deciding between a new 2021 (or 2022 when it comes out) Jeep Wrangler Islander or a tesla 3. I'm not super crazy about electric vehicles because I live in a condo without a charging station. I know I could just charge at charging stations in my city. I am also concerned about what would happen if I should ever have a mechanical problem with the tesla as many mechanics wouldn't be able ... | |||||
