| Answer to: 2021 Honda Passport Elite Vs. 2021 Subaru Outback Touring XT | 26Relevance | 5 years ago | Dad2LM2 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| I agree with ITWT that Honda is nominally better than subaru. But they are both good. People cross shop them but other than being quasi-outdoorsy wagony things, there are some big differences. The passport is substantially larger, more powerful, and has a higher base price. The Honda sits higher, though I think the subaru has better ground clearance. the Honda has a V6 and auto transmission; the outback has only 4 cylinder options and CVT (I believe). Both have good road manners and good-ish off road performance. Both have good reliability in the first 150 ... | |||||

| Hi, I have a 2010 subaru outback 2.5 AT with almost 200k miles. I’ve owned the car since new. For the last couple years I’ve found myself replacing the front lower ball joints on this car about once a year. I don’t do as much daily driving on this car as was done in its earlier years, mostly just weekend camping trips about once a month and short distance around-town driving during the week. The ball joints seem to be making some rattling sound when I drive over bumpy roads or dirt roads. I can replace the ball joints with genuine subaru dealer parts or chea ... | |||||

| ... reliability. I am mostly a Toyota customer (also own 92 LS400, 03 Tacoma, & 06 Tundra). I had narrowed my search to 2GR-FE powered AWD Toyota's (2010-2015ish) or a 2013/2014 subaru outback 3.6R (was entertaining GX470 for ultimate reliability, but you lose 6 MPG). I had decided to go with the 3.6R outback and then saw your video highlighting 3 subarus 08/27/23. You have given me second thoughts. I had made the decision to go EZ36 over the 2GR-FE because of the leaks that develop with age around where the head, block, and timing cover meet. The eng ... | |||||
| RE: 2017 Subaru Outback engine blown with NO WARNING! | 26Relevance | 4 years ago | Corob57 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Yes, my new mantra in life…check oil, check oil, check oil….more fool me but I thought with all this technology, all the safety features to prevent x, y and z, that a dummy light for old gals to be aware of low oil, like my bmw did, would be working on a 2017 outback. I grew up doing oil changes on my vw, my rambler, my corvair…again, I hadn’t even owned this car 8 months…and there seems to be no accountability as to why, if it’s my fault for following the timeline for next oil change, yet that timeline was faulty or my fault for expecting a yellow warning light to go off like it did in September (when that lite up I had oil changed within a 2 days) I must be losing my mind. Why didn’t I know to constantly check oil on a 2017 outback? Not only is the engine blown, so is my mind! 🤯 | |||||

| Hi Scotty, Hope all is well. I wanted your thoughts on the subaru outback wagon as a used vehicle purchase. I like its looks, its height relative to ground clearance, that its a wagon, AWD, and reputation for being rugged and reliable. I've heard stories about issues with their CVT and you've expressed your own opinions about this type of transmission as well. I'm think of 2015-2017. Any thoughts about it and whether it's a good choice. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Joe | |||||

| Hey Scotty! I am purchasing a brand new vehicle for my wife and I as we had our first child. I am looking at a 2024 subaru outback wilderness and 2023 Volvo V60 Cross Country. Both are AWD, Automatics. I'm not sure what to buy. Both have great safety ratings and AWD systems from my understanding. I'm diligent about my car maintenance to make sure they stay in good working order. I'm just curious which one be a better vehicle long term. Plan keeping it for 10 years minimum. If it helps, I live in Canada. Thanks, | |||||

| Hi Scotty, You recommend the subaru outback. Does that apply to all years or only recent 2022 and 2023. The price is cars has skyrocketed and my budget only allows a certain price range under $11000. I am a senior on SS. Miss you being in Houston. I used to bring my car to you back in the 80’s! | Answer to: Mercury Milan or Subaru Outback for a second hand non daily driver? | 26Relevance | 5 years ago | Seeitknowit171 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| I like the outback better as well I prefer a rugged vehicle that you can haul a lot of stuff however it has twice the miles and had 2 owners. the Milan is the original owner I actually done business with him for a couple of years and he’s only used it going to work and around town driving now he’s selling it because he’s retiring. The outback I know was more a highway car going back and forth from The Catskills down to Florida from the first owner. The second owner is selling it for his daughter who used it going away to college in Rhode Island and never had any problems with the head gasket or car itself. Now she’s moved to the city she doesn’t need the car anymore. | |||||

| Should my friend daily drive a 1986 Subaru | 23Relevance | 3 years ago | Kat Perhaps | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Greetings, I have a friend who's making payments to purchase a 1986 subaru GL. I don't know how much they are paying for it, but likely not terribly much. It seems to be a car from an impound lot. Anyways, they're buying it because they see it as a fast, Japanese styled car, and could be drifted- which is absolutely not what that car was designed for, and would require substantial redesign of the suspension, different engine/drive train etc, which it appears they're not going to for a very long time if at all. They plan on daily driving it basically immedia ... | |||||

| I have a 2010 subaru outback and it burns out low beam bulbs on both sides within weeks of installation (not at the same time). I'm careful not to touch the bulbs with bare fingers and I had the alternator checked for spikes. I should mention that the left low beam light is a little dimmer than the right which could indicate a bad ground but I haven't located that yet. Could it also be a relay? thanks, John | |||||

The car has only 70k on it How much do you think it would/ should cost to fix. I would try it myself but looks a little too complicated. | |||||
