Should I buy a used Toyota Corolla (E170) in India that is Made in India

I found a used Toyota Corolla in my city in India that is almost brand new and was run for only 3000 km. The make is from 2019 in India, however, that does not mean it is a 2019 Corolla that may be sold elsewhere. In India, it was manufactured in 2019 and is in reality an E170 facelift model of Corolla. Here is the link of the advertisement. The car is almost scratchless and almost brand new. Before I try to negotiate with the reseller, I want to be sure that the car is actually the robust and reliable Corolla that Toyota is famous for. I am concerned if the manufacturing in India would affect the quality of build of the vehicle and if E170 has any flaws or problems that I am unaware of. As mentioned earlier I want to buy a robust vehicle on road that will accompany me for atleast 300,000 km to come without any hiccups.

Oh mate, you’ve stumbled across a mint condition Corolla with a manual transmission. Those things can run forever, especially with a manual.

Now, it should still be under warranty (even though it’s discontinued in India), so I’d have it thoroughly inspected by your trusted mechanic or Toyota dealer to verify the mileage. The dealer should have records of all the oil changes & service performed while the vehicle is/was under warranty.

If everything checks out, I’ll say offer 10% less, but since it’s with a dealer & Corollas are highly sought after in India, they may not want to negotiate.

The things you’re looking out for when you/mechanic/dealer inspects it - hidden accident damage, flood damage & verifying if those 3000kms are genuine.

With 5000km/6month oil changes, that 1.8L manual Corolla can easily last 1,000,000kms!

Good luck!
