| Answer to: What to look for - used Lexus | 15Relevance | 2 years ago | BobTheHatKing | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| I love the ls430. I love the look of it and I love full size sedans. I don’t own one but I kind of want to. It does have a Toyota/Lexus V8, so the starter is under the intake so if it ever goes out it’ll cost you either a fortune or a whole weekend to change it. If it’s already been changed, then you’re good for a long while. If it hasn’t then it’s only a matter of when, though being a Toyota product, the starter will last quite some time. I’ve heard some of them going 200k miles. Beyond that, being an LS there are less shared parts and they didn’t make tha ... | |||||

| ... especially on 20-year-old cars. My holy grail is the ls430, but I haven't seen any in a condition I can justifiably pull the trigger on. The ones in the best condition are going upwards of 15k. I've also been looking at old ES 330s and 350s, and I've kicked the tires on a 4runner or two. I'd basically like to know what the biggest pitfalls of these vehicles are and what to look for when trying to analyze any 20-year-old Lexus. I'd also like to know if ones above 150k miles are worth looking into. I've been trying to find 1 owner with decent record-keepi ... | |||||
| Is 2006 Mercedes S350 a good choice? | 15Relevance | 3 years ago | osama416 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hey Scotty and all forum members. I wanted to ask about S350 2006 for my father. He recently sold a Lincoln town car and he used to have ls430 for almost 4 years. He got used to luxury cars and since he had a good experience with the old W140 S class before he is really liking the S350 2006 there is one with about 180,000 miles in very good condition clean no issues at all at the moment. I advised to look at the lexus ES350 2007 but he isn't convinced with it at all since we had it before and he feels it's too light. What is your recommendation and would thi ... | |||||

| ... based on the 1UR-FSE but lacks the D4-S direct injection technology. Originally used for Lexus vehicles in the Middle East, it was introduced in 2010 in other markets to replace the 2UZ-FE engine in truck and SUV applications. This engine produces 347 hp (259 kW; 352 PS) at 6,400 rpm and 46.9 kg⋅m (460 N⋅m; 339 lb⋅ft) at 4,100 rpm in the Lexus GS and LS. For the Toyota Land Cruiser and Lexus GX the engine produces 304 hp (227 kW; 308 PS) at 5,500 rpm and 44.8 kg⋅m (439 N⋅m; 324 lb⋅ft) at 3,400 rpm. | Scotty, I have a 2006 Lexus ls430 with 193,000 miles. A couple weeks ago the check engine light and VSC light both came on at the same time. Car seems to run fine but I'm getting worse gas mileage. Any thoughts off the top of your head of what it could be before I take it in for service? Thanks! -Billy | |||||

| Answer to: Opinions on a Hyundai | 15Relevance | 4 years ago | Dan | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Generally, Hyundai cars are not recommended. Read our thread on Hyundai Motor Group products: Personally I also have own Hyundai-Kia products and choosing the right car is important, Unlike Toyota, there's a lot of variance when it comes to product quality. Many are crap, many are decent - mostly depends on if it's an MPI/GDI powertrain. I hope it's the lower power variant with the good old RWD Aisin transmissions. While the 290 horsepower MPi is good, The high power 329 horsepower GDi engine is troublesome. And as far as the transmission, it's a solid unit, the same one used in the Miata and Lexus CS/GS/LS430 variants. Overall, the MPi variant can last you quite a while, maybe over 150k. Assuming it doesn't get stolen, that the luxury elections don't blow up, and that it doesn't catch fire... Look the Genesis is a luxury car, and an absolute maintenance hog. With any modern Hyundai for the longest possible lifespan, follow the maintenance requirements laid out under the "MAINTENANCE UNDER SEVERE USAGE CONDITIONS" section. So mainly engine oil every 3.75k miles, and for the transmission no more than 60k with OEM spec fluid (I believe it takes Toyota WS fluid, but am not 100% sure. Also it's best to do it every 40k or less! - after all the 3.8L is much more powerful than the Miata's old 2000s 2.0L 170 horsepower) Otherwise just follow all the other regular requirements too, there's a lot of those: valve clearance adjustments every 60k miles, the fuel filter every 37.5k miles, the fuel tank filter every 30k miles, cleaning the throttle every 15k miles (if you see lots of build up, do it every oil change), every 100k miles (although I'd recommend 60k) replace the spark plugs, inspect the fluid every 37.5k (better to do it every oil change or two), Coolant first at 120k and then later every 30k (although I'd recommend first replacement at 100k), AND MUCH MORE - all requirements as listed the manual should be followed! | |||||
| Answer to: What is the most mileage you should buy a car? | 15Relevance | 4 years ago | MountainManJoe | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Too many variables. It depends on the car, engine, and how well it was looked after. Larger displacement engines generally last longer. It also depends on your budget, and if you can fix them yourself, etc. (I personally don't need to buy anything over 30k, and I wouldn't touch anything over 100k.) 20 year old cars will be near the end of their lifetime, so... I think 150k should be your hard limit. if you're on a budget then you shouldn't be looking at luxury models. Stick to the Corollas etc. | |||||

| Are 3rd and 4th generation Lexus LS models a good combination of luxury and reliability? | 15Relevance | 5 years ago | ChrisC72 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Are 3rd & 4th gen Lexus LS (LS430 & LS460, 2003 to 2017) a reliable choice for a used luxury car? I am attracted to them for the price, RWD, and the V8. Obviously gas mileage is a drawback. Are these as dependable as other Toyota/Lexus products of a similar vintage, or is the money better spent on a lower-end model that might be newer and have fewer miles? | |||||
