| RE: Premium versus Regular in GS350 F sport 3.5 V6 306 HP 11.5 | 18Relevance | 5 years ago | Mod_Man | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| When I had my Mustangs, I always used premium fuel. In those cars, the manual states it is ok to burn regular, but for best performance burn premium. I know I didn't pay for a near-500 HP car to not get the best out of it. As you said, it cost something like 20 cents or so more a gallon. If you have to split pennies that much, you need to buy a different vehicle. You and I are 100% the same opinion on this. As usual on most things I've noticed. Haha. | |||||

| Hi Scotty As I know Cx-9'sengine can be fueled with 87 regular unleaded fuel or 93 premium fuel. And depending on which fuel you choose, the engine produces different levels of horsepower and torque. However, if I want to keep this car for the long term, which fuel is better? Should I keep using one fuel and do not switch very frequently? Or I can use regular fuel for commuting and use premium fuel and rev up the engine to clean the engine once a month or week? Could you explain the mechanical theory behind this engine? I am very interested. What makes this ... | |||||
| Is it true that you can run premium gasoline in a 2001 CR-V? | 18Relevance | 5 years ago | couldaHaddad | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hey Scotty, I recently acquired a 2001 Honda CR-V with a 5-speed manual AWD. The car has 220 thousand miles on it. One of my friends told me I can run it with premium fuel? Online, I've seen conflicting information about it. Is premium only better in the B20B jdm version of the engine, or can it also be added to the lower compression B20Z2 (which is what im pretty sure is the engine that is found in the USDM spec)? | |||||
| Answer to: Can I put 85 octane gas in my car | 18Relevance | 2 years ago | DodgerMike | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| I had a new 2018 BMW M5 that BMW said to run on premium (91+) as I think they do on all their vehicles. The first time I took it in for an oil change they plugged it in to the scanner (or read the key memory, I’m not sure) and said, “I see you’re running premium gas, that’s good”). I was shocked the ECU was able to tell them that, and it made me concerned that using a lower grade might lead to warranty disputes if anything ever went wrong with the car. I have since sold that car but am wary of gas grades in any newer car. | |||||

| I just bought a 2010 Infinity G37 sedan, and it didn’t even come to my mind that it would need premium gas lol. But I filled the tank to the brim with 87. The engine light came on I’m assuming due to this and the car does run bad it feels. My question is should I use up all the gas then switch, or should I fill it when it’s halfway or something with premium to even it out for now? | |||||

| Sometimes these small turbocharged engines won't get decent gas mileage. "up to 18 city, 25 hwy" (using premium gas) was Mazda's claimed EPA rating and you're at 15 mpg.. check you fuel trims, live data, see if something's off there. In your case where premium fuel achieves the best mpg, regular saves money but with even worse mpg. | |||||

| Answer to: Tips on how to save money on Gas | 18Relevance | 5 years ago | Elon Dusk | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| First thing to do is own a fuel friendly vehicle. Drive at the speed limit or below so you won't have to brake and accelerate too often. Don't drive like a maniac. If your car doesn't need premium gas, don't put premium gas in it. Most vehicles are designed to run on 87 nowadays, except for performance and some luxury models. Fill your tank in the morning. Fuel expends in hotter temperature. | |||||

| Hello everyone, I'll be purchasing a 2001 lexus es300 with 117000 miles on it for $5000. I was wondering what gas I should use. Should I spend extra and get premium gas or just stick to regular fuel? I've heard arguments from both sides of the table saying that I should because it allows the engine to run better and not ping. I've also heard Scotty say that premium is a waste of money and I should just run regular fuel. I'll still purchase the car regardless because this is a golden find. I just want clarity. | |||||

| Shell and Chevron premium fuels have a higher concentration of their proprietary additive. If the gas brands in your area do not advertise a higher additive dose with their premium fuel, the premium fuel probably would not make any difference over the 87 octane. I do not have experience with STP, however I have used Chevron's Techron fuel system cleaner with good results. | |||||

| Thing is I was running out of gas in the middle of nowhere in Ohio with 5 miles of gas left in the tank. There was a gas station nearby but it was already shut. I started the car again and drove about 4 miles to a gas station on the interstate I found out I forgot to close the gas tank. The gas cap was not tightened and the door was left unshut. I felt desperate and probably forgot to do it while I was searching for a gas station. I filled up a full tank. Car runs fine, no problems. No check engine light. Could I have caused any damage to the car? 2023 Chrysler Pacifica minivan | |||||

| I see several options, in no particular order. 1) Use top tier gas. 2) Use non top tier gas that may be of top tier quality or better. 3) Use non top tier gas that may not be of top tier quality. 4) Option 2 or 3 + bottle additives. 5) Option 1 + bottle of additives. I’m okay with option 1,2,4,5. And it seems you are only okay with option 3 or 4., maybe 5. | |||||
