| See below: On which gas to use, stick with any Top Tier gas and the minimum grade required for your car (per owner’s manual). Arco is Top Tier and perfectly fine to use - your dad is wrong in his assessment of Arco gas. In fact, I get mainly Arco since where I live it’s closer to me and the cheapest price-wise. | Scotty I bought a 2019 Kia Optima S auromatic brand new and it now has 40k on it. I live in Southern Calif and do mostly freeway driving a little city driving. I dont have a lead foot and I drive around 75 mph. The tires are inflated properly oil changes regular and no weight in the car other than myself. The car gets about 16 mpg in the city and maybe 20 mpg. I have complained to the dealer and the car has been there many times since I bought it new on May 2019. I have called KIA of Northern America and tried to file a complaint but they are not on the consumers side at all, They back up the dealer. Its a nice looking car and a nice ride but its a gas burner Scotty. I got better gas mileage with my 1972 Corvette and my international Scout II. The dealer has taken the car many times and test driven it all over the place and all hey can tell me is that everything is ok and within specs. It coast me $75.00 to fill my tank and it drinks the gas like a pig. They tell me the gas winter blend or summer blend and now they tell e I need to bring the car in for a fuel system and injector treatment or cleaning and transmission service. More crap to sell me more money to burn. I wish I never bought this car thats for sure. The window sticker said the EPA was 24 city 33 highway. Nowhere even close.People on the street I talk to with the same car tell me they get way better gas mileage. My car has an 18,5 gallon tank. If Im lucky I will get 300 miles to a tank of gas on a good day maybe 350 miles to a tank of gas. This is not the ar of my dreams by any means but come on does the EPA and the window sticker on the car lie that much? Are other people that have the same car as mine lie as well? Well thank you for letting me ask my question and state my complaint to you and your other followers. Scotty West | |||||
| Bad gas mileage on a Corvette | 17Relevance | 5 years ago | robbiev427 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| I have a 2004 Chevy Corvette with about 87,500 miles, automatic, no OBD codes, 5.7 LS1, and a 3.15 rear end, bought used from a dealer about 10 months ago. As far as I know it's completely stock and it runs well but it gets really bad gas mileage, sometimes as low as 11 or 12 in the city but usually around 13-14 and about 19 or 20 on the highway and only about 22 or 23 on a long trip. Other C5s that I've driven get well over that, typically around 18-19 in the city and well up in the 20s on the highway and even in the low 30s on a long trip. I rarely drive it hard, so it's not my driving habits, and it gets pretty much the same mileage no matter what type or grade of gas I buy. This particular year had a gas tank connector problem which causes a leak between the two tanks but a local dealer tells me it was fixed under the service bulletin and everywhere I've taken it says they don't see a fuel leak even though according to numerous sources, it didn't actually spill out but evaporated from the connector. I don't smell gas and never see any gas on the ground. When I first bought the car at the beginning of the year I didn't notice the gas mileage being so low but noticed it after I had it for a couple of months. Another thing worth mentioning, no matter what the onboard DIC indicates are number of mileage remaining, I never get anywhere that. On a full tank of 18 gallons I typically will get about 220 even though the DIC indicates I should get about 340-350 miles, and on my last C5 I would actually get over 300 on a full tank in the city and over 400 on a trip. I've had a number of things checked on it and no shop can find anything wrong mechanically but I literally can't get anyone to run a pressure check on the fuel system to see if there is a pressure leak. They keep telling me that it CANNOT be a fuel pressure problem or I would smell gas and no one will actually perform a pressure check. Any idea what it might be, and is it true that it's not possible for it to be a fuel pressure issue since I don't smell or see leaking fuel? | |||||
| Answer to: Top tier gas vs non top tier ethanol free gas | 17Relevance | 3 years ago | Chuck Tobias | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| If your car is designed to run on ethanol-contaminated gas there's no problem in using it. There is a drop in gas mileage versus pure gasoline, but the increased cost of the pure stuff more than wipes out that savings. About the only reason for using the pure gasolne in a stock modern car might be if the car is going to be stored for more than a few weeks. Pure gas doesn't deteriorate as quickly as the ethanol-laced stuff. (Gas stabilizer is a good idea if a car is to be stored for months at a time in any event.) | |||||

| When I had my Camaro SS I used the non-ethanol gas since premium was recommended anyway and I did get much better gas mileage, so it was worth it for me. But as for our Silverado, no doesn't justify the extra cost, especially since Brandon's been pres. But if we're filling up our gas cans for the law mower and other yard tools and the truck needs gas then I'll fill up while there. | |||||

| Answer to: Work Gas truck vs Diesel | 17Relevance | 2 years ago | Justin Shepherd | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| ... fine. Trucks, both gas and diesel powered, are meant for towing. It's how much they tow where that counts. Diesels tow more efficiently, but at what cost? Diesel engines are also at least $1.29 per gallon more expensive than gas, and mechanics who specialize in diesel engines are required, both of which add tremendously to overall ownership costs. Any time you need speciality mechanics, there's more of a premium. My father-in-law also has an old Dodge Ram 2500 turbodiesel that he never drives, precisely because diesel fuel is so much more expensive. Unless ... | |||||
| Answer to: Gas mileage, 2017 Genesis G80, 5.0L V8 AWD, 420hp non-modified | 17Relevance | 2 years ago | Justin Shepherd | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| That sounds about right. I had a 1994 BMW 540i when I was younger (also a V8), and I hot around the same MPG, perhaps a little better mileage (540i meant a 4.0L V8, which is slightly smaller than yours). V8s are gas hogs, there's no way around it. It's only when you cruise on the highway at a reasonable speed (up to 65 MPH) where you get the best efficiency. AWD just adds more unnecessary weight via more friction. You paid for a rich man's toy and you got it, so don't expect that car to sip gas like a Honda Fit. | |||||
| 2012 VW Tiguan - Gas Smell in Cabin + Difficult Start | 17Relevance | 4 years ago | TheGingaNinja | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| ... afternoon as I was leaving work, it wouldn't start. It turned over just fine. But no ignition. It took me about 4 times and the car finally started and then ran fine. I thought possibly bad gas. So I put some injector cleaner in it and filled the tank up with premium. Upon filling it up (not overfilling, just filling) I noticed the strong gas smell again. However, it starts fine once it's been running. It seems like the more time that has gone by since starting, the more difficult it is to start. Also, no gas smell in the cabin once it isn't a full tank. Wh ... | |||||
| Gas small in garage after driving car | 17Relevance | 4 years ago | subaru2015 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| My 2020 Subaru Ascent (premium, 15,000 miles) leaves a gas smell in the garage after driving the vehicle any distance. The smell lingers for over 24 hours, and has been this way since we purchased the car brand new. No puddles of gas/fluid on the ground. Additionally when driving the car there is occasionally a gas smell. Took it to the dealer once, and stated they couldn't find anything and blamed it on being a turbo engine. My Ascent was not part of the fuel pump recalls. Any advice? As I don't believe this is normal. Should I continue to bring it back to the dealer until they find something, or I was considering sending an oil sample out for an independent evaluation to see if gas and oil are mixing too much as I've heard this is an issue with these engines. Appreciate any help in advance. | |||||
