| So Apparently Lexus Made a Steaming Pile of Junk? (Lexus IS220D) | 20Relevance | 5 years ago | Alex G | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hi Scotty, Everyone keeps telling me I should have bought the is250, but I bought the IS220D diesel 2AD-FHV engine over here in the UK. It's like I'm gonna be driving down the road one day and find myself in a Gremlins 3 movie the way people go on. Head gasket, carbon buildup -- you name it. It seems to have the reputation of a Lexus-made brand new junker. It's the inline 4 turbo with a 175BHP 2.2L engine and I know the NA engines are better. But it was £3000 with 60,000 miles and 15 services at the Lexus dealership - so maybe 5 total if I'm lucky. In ret ... | |||||

| RE: Lexus is250 ac compressor seized | 18Relevance | 1 year ago | Chuck Tobias | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| If that pulley won't move even when the car is off about the only thing you can do to go back to a normal belt would be to replace the compressor. If not interested in the AC you could pick up the cheapest junkyard compressor you can find where the pulley spins OK and just use it as an idler pulley. (Some vehicles actually have an AC delete idler pulley available for them but I doubt that's the case for is250.) | |||||

| Hello! I just viewed your video from 5 days ago referring to the Lexus is250 sticky dash/door fix for free. I recently purchased a 2008 is250 with 111,000 miles. If I touch the door wrong I can leave my fingernail mark in it! I believe I see damage from the previous owners dog in the door which just ruins the beauty. You mentioned in the video that time is running out to have this sticky fixed by Lexus for free. I am going to call my dealership on Monday. Can you give me any advice or tips to persuade them to take care of this for me? I'm feeling some push ... | |||||

| ... note that the mid->late 2000's Lexus/Toyota cars had a huge plummet in quality when it comes to mechanically and cosmetically. Buy one with lower mileage that was taken care of. Apparently the 2006-2007 had more issues than the others. Some don't trust it but still, a survey of millions of vehicles compiled by consumer reports shows that the IS350 was more reliable than the is250. | |||||

| ... well and drives well. There is sometimes a popping sound coming from the engine or when at a stoplight but it's very light and only when the car is cold and not warmed up. There have been 2 instances when the weather was below freezing and then the check engine light came up and was flashing with the misfire being audible. Shutting down the car and starting her again resolved the issue and there have been no active misfires like that since then. On some days there are no pending codes, sometimes there are. I have removed and changed the spark plugs, there w ... | |||||
| Answer to: Lexus is250 ac compressor seized | 18Relevance | 1 year ago | Chuck Tobias | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| It's possible that the clutch bearing is seized up. Does the pulley rotate freely by hand when the fan belt is off of it? All this is assuming that the compressor does have an electromagnetic clutch, some use an internal control valve instead. There are rockauto.com listings for that vehicle which indicate either type may be used in that model. See if there is a wire going directly under the pulley where an electromagnetic clutch coil would be. | |||||

| Should a rear brake job on a 2009 Lexus IS250 be $1300? | 18Relevance | 1 year ago | OskieDokie | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| I just bought a 2009 Lexus is250 AWD from a dealership with almost 180,000 miles on it, and I was told $1300 Canadian with a 10% friends and family discount (about USD900) for a full rear brake and e-brake job. The mechanic is my friend's uncle working at a garage, it's the first time I go to him but he seems very sweet and caring. The right rear brake definitely make a very loud grinding sound, and looking at it he assumed the rear left one was too worn out, making the rear right one work overtime. Does that price sound reasonable if both rear pads, rotor ... | |||||

| It's an is250 2008 with 200.000 km, manual transmission.I can hear a clicking noise, wich is normal, but there is also a more "deep" banging noise that concerns me. I've watched a bunch of youtube videos where this engine is running and they dont have this bang. The banging noise can be heard louder in the cabin when the engine is under high load(second gear full throttle on uphill)-It's not very loud, but it sounds like metal clacking.Oil level is ok The engine doesnt burn oil Here is the video of my lexus: What should i look for? THANK YOU! | |||||

| ... car is a RWD Lexus is250 2008, manual trans with 198.000km A metallic rattle/pinging noise can be heard in the cabin only starting from 2000 rpms when I press the accelerator very lightly. I think it's the same sound source as the one in the footage under the hood(that loud thumping noise). If I accelerate in neutral, the rattle is not heard 90% of the time, but sometimes in can be heard less than a second, my guess is the engine has to be under a bit of load.I've tried flushing the engine, then adding hyraulic valve additive but with no luck. I also added ... | |||||
