| Mazda 3 GS sport 4 doors sedan, 2021 brand new | 29Relevance | 5 years ago | Andylee | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hello Scotty, I have been watching your videos on youtube and learning a lot. Mazda 3 GS sport 4 doors sedan, 2021 brand new. I am just wondering what is the best and safest way to jack the vehicle up? Does it do any damage if I only lift the rear end of the vehicle and leave the front end on the ground. I am changing tires from all season to winter tires. I live in Canada and it could get pretty cold (-30 to -40). Do I need to jack up the vehicle completely and place all 4 jack stands underneath? Right now, I only have 2 jack stands. I am worry if I jack up one end and leave one end on the ground and that might damage the vehicle front or rear end. Please let me know. Thank You! Best Regards, Andy | |||||
| Question about jacks for 1 Ton Vans | 29Relevance | 5 years ago | ms.lisa | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hi Scotty, You rarely talk about vans so I am writing you to ask which jack is the best to use for large vans? Not to work on other than to change a flat tire. I have a Dodge B350 1 Ton Van 1986 with v8 engine. I am disabled and can't easily lift objects heavier than 25 lbs. I want to be able to carry around a jack with me that will be easy to use and easy to carry/lift. Which jack would you suggest? I presently have a farm jack that the previous owner gave me with the van but I just don't think that is the jack I should be using. Thank you in advance for your time, Lisa | |||||

| ... with the old style tower jacks that hooked up to cars' bumpers, the latch could break, the car could fall off, the stand itself could fall over or buckle... I had a floor jack rupture on me a few months ago when I was jacking up my girlfriend's car, trying to get wood under the wheels. My bottle jack in my truck binded up last summer when I was lifting it to install manual hub locks. @chucktobias is 100% spot on. If you need to be told to not rely on a jack to support a car when you're under it, you probably shouldn't be under there. They fail all the time. | |||||
| Heat and A/C Question | 28Relevance | 5 years ago | ZKoss | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Scotty, I have a question with modern car heating and A/C systems. So I live in PA where I usually run the heat this time of year in my car and usually only run the A/C between April and October. When I run the heat this time of year in my car I usually use the floor vents only if the windshield doesn't need to be de-fogged, or if it needs to be de-fogged, then either floor and defrost, or front defrost only. In my current car (2019 corolla), heat works great, but I notice that when I have the heat on floor only, later on when the car warms up from the heat ... | |||||

| Hey scotty, what is the best jack that will lift my my 2015 toyota corolla with ease and lift it high enough. I have jackstands that would not fit under the frame of my car to do my own oil change because my grandmother’s jack didnt jack my car up high enough. | |||||

| Yes, it depends on the vehicle. Mine has a strong crossmember in front and a reinforced area in the rear so I can lift the entire front or back of the car easily with a floor jack and put jack stands underneath. | |||||

| Scissor jack is OK with proper precautions that you always need to do when lifting a car, as others have pointed out. However you'll likely find that ramps or a hydraulic floor jack would be a lot easier and more convenient. | |||||

| That could be a problem. I wouldn't be able to use those ramps with my car due to low clearance in the front but I'm not familiar enough with the Buick to say. (I use a floor jack and jack stands.) | |||||

| For emergency use, the scissor jacks seems to work great. I’ve used it in a pinch. And I think it is the least maintenance. A bottle jacks might also be an option. I’ve never used one, but I am eyeing one if I ever do go buy another jack. floor jack is just way to damn big and heavy to haul around. It’s great at home or for work, but space is precious in a car. | |||||

| Focus Rs Possible Floor Damage? | 26Relevance | 5 years ago | JayG902 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hey Scotty! I recently purchased a 2017 Ford Focus RS. The car is a Certified Pre Owned vehicle with only 24,000 miles on it. Last week I pulled my floor mat out and the carpet was wet in one small spot under the gas pedal, do you think there is a hole in the floor? or it's just the floor mats are not holding water good enough when it rains? I am also thinking about taking it to the Ford Dealership and having them check it out. If there is a hole, is that covered under the CPO Warranty? if you or anyone can help me out with this. I would really appreciate it ... | |||||

| Brakes - 07 Impala 07 Impala (VIN: 2G1WB58K079104049). After 8.5 weeks at the Dealership they are throwing in the towel on why the brake pedal goes to the floor. BTW, we went through 3 different field service engineers at the dealership, a shop manager, and a couple of service mechanics too. This all started when my son came home from school after his spring semester and we changed the pads and rotors. We used OEM parts except for rear rotors due to availability. Bled brakes (two man) several times (RR, LR, RF, LF) but brakes were intermittent - good one ... | |||||
| 04 Toyota Highlander brake pedals going the floor | 26Relevance | 5 years ago | lyleyoh | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hi I have a 04 Toyota Highlander and the brake pedals go to the floor when they are used more frequently. I do delivery such as GrubHub and other ones as well. The only time they go to the floor is when I am doing stop and go delivery and when used to pull a trailer. If I do normal driving they are fine. The other day they started to go to the floor so I let off the brake then pushed on it again and the brake pedal let out a noise inside of the car. Kind of like a grinding noise. I replaced the master cylinder with a Advics brand master cylinder and I repla ... | |||||

| ... actuator controlling the Defrost door actually operates. What I don't know is if the other two vacuum actuators should be moving at the same time or why on earth I have no defrost heading into Winter? As I move the switch from floor to Vent to floor/Defrost to full Defrost I can see and hear the actuator operating but there is no discernable change in air flow. It only is discharging through the floor vents. Any suggestions I should try? Thanks in advance for your help! | |||||
