| Honda Civic Valvoline Max Life ATF | 17Relevance | 3 years ago | Skyhawk945 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Scotty, just purchased a 2007 Honda Civic cream puff with 37,000 miles. changed all the fluids. I heard good things about Valvoline Max Life atf. After being reassured by Valvoline Customer Service and my local AutoZone guys I did several drain and fills to migrate to the Valvoline atf fluid. Now I'm having second thoughts and thinking maybe a full synthetic after market fluid was a bad choice. Not sleeping at night! Please tell me should I stay with Valvoline Max Life or drain it and go back to the Honda OEM fluid? Thank you so much! John D | |||||
| 2007 Ford Explorer V8 6AT - ATF replacement | 17Relevance | 6 years ago | EnriqueV | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hello. I recently bought a 2007 Ford Explorer (V8 with the 6 speed automatic) with a little over 50,000 miles on it. I don’t believe the atf has ever been changed, and Ford states it’s a lifetime fluid (we all know what that means). I think the mileage is low enough so it’s not dangerous to replace the fluid, however I worry about the age of the vehicle. should I still go ahead and replace the atf or are 13 years too much and the replacement could harm the transmission? Thanks in advance! | |||||

| ... and moved the shifter through the gears 2 times and ran the engine for about 5-7 minutes. Then I checked the fluid level with engine running and the dipstick read about 5 mm above the high mark for a "Hot" transmission. What worries me is the Haynes manual and the Toyota Owners Manual both indicate that an "Automatic Transmission (drain and refill), 4-speed transmission 2008 and earlier models..................2.1 quarts(2.0 liters). do you think I should drain a quart out of the A/T? | |||||

| ... front end when I bought it just so I knew it wouldn't fall apart on me. Only issue it has is the dampeners are junk for my car . But anyways. What should I do with my transmission fluid? Leave it? change it? Check the quality and then possibly change it? If I don't change it could I still change the filter? It shift smooth and has no jerks or hesitation. 90% of the miles I put on it are from the highway. What should I do? Thank you for your time. | |||||

| See here for guidance - Check out the forum FAQ again (or use the search function in the top right corner), but generally avoid the oil burners with the 2.4L engines and beware of the ones from 2014 with the troublesome automatics. With it being a used vehicle, it’s mandatory to have any potential vehicle throughly inspected by a professional mechanic, before purchase. | |||||

| ... people who haven't worked in the field and mechanics who only do component level repair don't know. - I have replaced a bunch of these EXACT diffs due to discussing worn-out BAD SPLINES (some worn out, some sheered off). It crunches, free wheels and then looks something like THIS, although most of the time they're just chewed up. - - And i found a case in English, although that one is AWD and not what OP has. - The solution is to ADD GREASE, simple, much cheaper than "faulty transmissio - replace tranny" With enough "braveness" you can ruin the splines ... | |||||
