| Answer to: 2018 FORD FLEX AWD w Ecoboost opinions | 14Relevance | 5 years ago | pmassey31545 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| People here are hating on EB's for some reason. But the later models are surprisingly robust. There's plenty of vids on Youtube to show such. Don't be afraid of the EcoBoost. My father-in-law has a 2011 f150 with a 3.5 approaching 200K and brother-in-law has a 2015 2.7 f150 that does just fine. | |||||
| What are your 2021 Tacoma opinions | 14Relevance | 5 years ago | anthony.brezgel | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hey Scotty, I have been listening to your YouTube channel for a few months. You were correct on the f150 with the Eco boost and transmission. I have a 2018 f150 XLT with the 3.5L twin turbo. With 32k miles I started having shifting problems and less power from the turbo. I down graded to a 2021 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 TRD 50miles. I got the truck for 34k. Is this a good deal and is this thing going to last me? I always take care of my vehicles! | |||||

| ... old time carburetors, but they proved reliable over time and the benefits far outweighed the repair cost risk. And on the f150 EcoBoosts, like the truck mechanic said online, the most common problem with them is NOT using the turbos and the waste gates getting stuck. It likely took less than a year for Chevy to learn what a lemon their Vega engine was and it was one of the reasons the public soured on the car. Ford started using the EcoBoost 3.5 (first gen version, not as good as the current 2nd gen) in 2007 in other vehicles and in 2011 in the f150. If ... | |||||

| Thanks Razmig. If an EcoBoost f150 engine risks a shorter lifespan it would not be because of the turbos so much as either a) they are a lot of fun to 'get on' the power and might get harder use, and b) it IS important to use the best oil and stick to a reliable maintenance schedule. I only use full synthetic oil in my 3.5 EB and every few tanks of gas I toss in a can of Gumout fuel system cleaner with PEA to make sure the injectors and valves stay clean. I love my f150, it can easily get 17-18 mpg around town (over time, not just a quick test) which is bett ... | |||||

| Hi Scotty I have ordered a new 2021 f150 extended cab Lariat with the 5.0 engine. I've heard that this engine now has A belt driven oil pump instead of chain driven, should I be concerned? I intend to keep this truck for 7 to 9 years. The engine also has Variable displacement technology. It runs on 4 or 8 cylinders depending on load. I'm also concerned about this, what did I get into? I didn't know this until after I ordered the truck. Ugh. I was told that in sport mode it will always run on 8 cylinders is there a way to prove this with a scan tool? | |||||

| Do heavy shift knobs damage your manual trans components? | 12Relevance | 2 years ago | SpecOpsBoy | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hi Scotty big fan. I have 2 vehicles, a 2020 Subaru WRX 21K miles with the Fa20 motor and a project car, a 1995 Eclipse GS 180K miles with the DSM 420A motor both manual trans. I've been looking into different shift knobs of various styles and weights, the OEM on my WRX is about 200 grams and 150 grams for the Eclipse. . From what I have read, i've noticed there is a lot of different opinions regarding the potential damage that a heavy shift knob lets say between 300 and 600 grams can damage a shifter's components. The opinions I've seen have not come from actual mechanics. So with all your experience have you seen or do you believe there can be damage done if someone puts a heavy shift knob in their car? Thank you for your time. | |||||
