| Answer to: chevy silverado vs ford f150 | 14Relevance | 5 years ago | Paradox | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| From what I can gather from Scotty, GM is terrible except for maybe the Silverado/Sierra 2500 HD series. If you are looking at the 1500 series GM versus Ford f150, I think Ford is better. That said, get the Toyota Tundra instead of the GM 1500 or Ford f150. | |||||
| Answer to: What should i choose as my first truck? 2020 Ford F150 XLT V8 5.0 or a Toyota Tundra. | 14Relevance | 5 years ago | endrit15 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Your taking a gamble when buying the f150 because you will need to do extensive research to find out which models to get and which to avoid. The tundra's will have better resale value in the end over the f150's and will wear better over time. Ford makes good trucks for heavy duty construction and towing, wheras the Tundra is smoother on the road and is more practical for a first time teenager. The 14-16 tundra has been out for 14 years up to now and has been perfected. You can get a good used one for a good price because it is so outdated up to now. | |||||

| Honestly if I was going the Ford route I’d stay away from the f150 completely and move up to the 6.2 or 7.3 in the 250s. I know you said towings not really a frequent thing but the 6.2 has been out awhile and I’ve read multiple accounts of people getting 200k + with them. The 7.3 GODZILLA motor has only been out a couple years but it is push rod design and seems pretty simple overall. The above comments are spot on with the f150 motor options. I’d also add that the 10speed transmissions Ford is using are not to great at all. | |||||
| Should I buy this 2011 f150 | 14Relevance | 5 years ago | Lueluke | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hello I am looking at a used f150 that a local dealership is selling. It’s a 2011 f150 eco boost with the 3.5l it’s a lariat with full 4 doors, tan leather interior and a max towing package. The truck has 169,000 miles on it and it’s a one owner. The service history of it is very good but it does have a very small amount of hail damage on the hood and some on the roof due to it being from west Texas. All the bushings are new and the engine appears to be in really good shape. The dealership wants $12,500 for it. Should I get it and if not what are some equiva ... | |||||
| Installing JLT 3016P oil separator on F150 query | 14Relevance | 5 years ago | F150Al | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| First Scotty thanks for all your help. I have a 2020 f150 Roush with a supercharger. I’m installing an JLT 3016P oil separator. The kit comes with two connections, PCV valve the other Manifold=Supercharger. Thing is it has a third line heading towards the back of the engine. JLT informs me to just plug it off, with a supplied plug! However, I see other videos of a Mustang with supercharger, virtually the same hook up where JLT has the third line hook up. What’s the difference between my f150 650hp and the same on the mustang. Thanks | |||||
| I have a 2007 Toyota Matrix. How stupid am I to get a 1993 F150? | 14Relevance | 5 years ago | A Pacifist | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Because of Scotty’s advice, I got a 2007 Toyota Matrix and have kept it very well maintained. I love working on cars have found a 1993 f150 with the 302 engine and a standard transmission with 147,000 miles. I’m waiting on the seller to send the CarFax. I’ve wanted an older truck for awhile, but is it a terrible idea to get that truck? Is that generation pretty solid? I had a 99 f150 that was my baby that got totaled by a drunk driver and I’ve wanted another pickup since. | |||||

| I am looking to get my first truck and I've narrowed it down to a 2020 f150 or Tundra and I'm torn on which to get. I know the f150 is more modern with some of its features, but I also know Toyota's are extremely reliable and hold their value. The only thing is that I know the 2020 Tundra hasn't really been updated in years. Any recommendations? | |||||

| Hi Scotty, I'm considering between a 2014 Ford f150 Platinum ($37,000; 115,000 km) and 2015 Toyota Tundra Platinum ($31,800; 210,000 km). Both are from dealer. The f150 is accident free, while the Tundra is "Clean Title No Clam Over $2000" according to the dealer. What is your advice, and which vehicle should I choose? Also, there is another 2015 Toyota Tundra 1794 edition ($32,000; 160,000 km) but with $13,000 "animal collision" damage. Should I consider this one? Thank you very much. | |||||

| ... Tundra is the perfect truck for someone who wants a truck but doesn't need to do heavy work and here's why: Tundra towing capacity: 10,400 lbs, F-150 matches that on the 3.7 V6 and up from there Tundra MAX payload: 2040 LBS... f150 MAX payload: 3,120 LBS Tundra: 17-20 MPG highway 13-16 MPG city, F-150 18-23 MPG highway and 11-17 City Honestly... There are a million different packages of the f150 and quite a few on the Tundra, but I guarantee you that if you are doing heavy hauling, it won't even feel like anything is back there, ESPECIALLY when you are ... | |||||
| Overheating F150 for a 12 hour drive | 14Relevance | 5 years ago | Teknikal | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hi Scotty. I have a 2019 Ford f150 10spd automatic with the 3.5 ecoboost that has been fluctuating between 190-236° engine temp for the past few months. I took it to a Ford dealer for warranty coverage and they said they fixed/replaced the water pump and the fluctuating temperature is just "normal". Knowing that, recently I took a 11 hour trip from Florida to North Carolina and the engine kept reading 230ish and going back down so much everytime I let go of the throttle, drive at high speed, go up a hill, and or use the turbos for a few seconds (My eyes were ... | |||||
| Answer to: 2021 Tacoma vs F150 (smallest base models) | 14Relevance | 5 years ago | Baloney | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| My work mates have those 2 trucks, both trucks can take fairly many tools and I never see them break down. I am not sure new f150 base model has same turbocharged V6 engine I will double check it. If you wish to have more powerful truck for towing, f150 is a great buy. If Tacoma’s engines are enough for you, go with it. But certain Tacomas are made in Mexico I believe. I guess if Scotty’s here he won’t recommend you buy taco.(He loves Texas version) In my area both 2 truck hold their values very well, I agree with you when used ones are expensive, ju ... | |||||
| I buying new Ford F150, which engine you think will last longer and less issues 3.0L Diesel or 3.5L EcoBoost? | 14Relevance | 6 years ago | choppers555 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hi Scotty, I am buying a new Ford f150 and don't know what engine to buy, my biggest concern is longevity. I don't care about how much it can tow because i really don't tow anything. The price is not a concern easier, just want a good solid engine in my f150, that will last 200K with very little issues. In your professional opinion which option would you choose? I have been watching your you tube videos for a very long time. I saw the one about the EcoBoost having issues, so i think possibly you will say the diesel will be the better motor with less i ... | |||||

| Nissan Frontier is the only Nissan I’d even glance at. Pre 2018 f150 5.0 is the only f150 I’d buy. My 2015 has been great to me. 2018 or newer 🤢 you’re going to be spending so much money to keep it on the road. Tundra is decent but Toyota is essentially doing the same thing as Ford and opting for smaller V6 turbo motor. Only new trucks worth looking at for any chance of longevity are 3/4 / 1 ton gas or diesel. With the basic trim levels. | |||||
